I have received my order of the steering head bearing nut wrench.

 

I will be shipping out to every one that has ordered one.

 

I have extras, so if you would like one and have not ordered, see below for info.

 

I have include a PDF cut from the 1st Gen & RSV service manuals relating to the procedure to set torque.

 

Pay attention to text about setting torque wrench at a 90 degree angle to wrench. Not doing so will affect torque reading.

The procedure for setting steering head torque is outlined in the service manuals beginning with the 1986 manual. This is under Periodic Inspection & Adjustment - Chassis - Steering Head Adjustment.

 

Also, if you are the proud owner of the MKI (83-85) Ventures, you could use the procedure outlined in the 86-93 manual. If you need a copy of this procedure I can provide it for you.

 

The tool will work on any year Venture. The same part number is shown in the part fiche from 1983 through the RSV's for the steering head bearing nut.

 

The tool will also work on 1st gen VMaxs & FJR's

 

The tool is laser cut from 1/4" thick, 304 stainless steel.

Hey dingy just notised this post as am on midnights and wasn't able to check as much as I would like. Are there any of these tools left? Could us if I ever find fairing parts to rebuild my 87,but might be close enough to the tool needed to adjust head bearing on my 2000 Roadstar(different tool number but you never know) If there are any available please let me know and I will Pay Pal you.Also hoping to see my tack's in mail this week! Thanks in advance!

I could have walked to your place and back quicker. The tachs you sent came in good time. It seems the bigger the package the quicker it goes through customs, they get tired of tripping over it. Ordered a windshield came in a week.

Got mine last week,,, it made good time.

What I have figured out is this: if you ship from the States to Canada, ship the first of the week, that way the package moves right through customs. If you ship the end of the week, it gets buried over the weekend and then it takes time to uncover it, so it's Wednesday before it moves on again.

Just my experience.

if due to space you need to use it straight in line with the torgue wrench there is a math formula you need to use to calculate for the difference in length.

Using an inline extension and some calculating you can use your torque wrench to tighten bolts that are outside of your torque wrenches normal capacity.
