helmet cleaning

I just washed the liner of my helmet in the clothes washer, 5 years of "stuff" sure can change the color and smell. Then I sprayed a little Simple Green inside and wiped out the stuff again. What do I us to clean the outside ? Wax... Pledge... ?

I use Pledge on my helmet after every day of riding. In the colder months when I use a full-face helemt, I even Pledge the faceshield.
