O.K., I've asked Don and he is at a loss on this, which in itself is troublesome for me; but I figure maybe some of you other IT's may have an idea.

I am using Security Shield for virus protection etc., yet I'm getting a number of spam e-mails every day with my spam control set to maximum. Each day is a different sender and they all use an addy linked to a domain name(different each day). It's not that there are a couple of hundred but it's annoying nonetheless. So far I've used one to block future mailings and deleted the rest.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to stop this permanently let me know!

Thanks!!

If the spammer is trully changing email address every day. it will be hard to stop.

And email headers can be faked so they aren't really origonating from where they say they are.

Its the Free Enterprise system.

If you have a filter that can block email on key words in the text of the message, you can set it to kick out mail that way

My webhost installed a virus spam filter that nails just about 100% of any spam/virus that comes through. I used to get a ton of spam but since they changed over it's almost zip. The DHL shipment virus was the latest. I guess they keyed in the 'DHL' and nothing makes it thru, but if I really wanted to read it I could go to my accounts page and open it.... Not!! If anything does slip by I also have Trend Micro Firewall that takes care of things. The reason I need this is my biz email addresses are all over the place, so I'm an easy mark for the spammers....

I kinda like Spam, as long as it is cooked up as a Musubi.

I think it has a lot to do with which email provider you use. I don't get any with bellsouth but I get a lot with yahoo. I started getting spam with yahoo the first day I used it. It's almost like yahoo is encouraging spam.

I use yahoo and have blocker set to max. I get 1 or 2 a day that gets by but I just don't open them. Have not heard of any that stops 100% of them.

I use Yahoo, and Yahoo filters 90% of the spam and tosses it into the spam folder. They do toss email I want once in a while, so I have to go in the spam folder and review things periodically. But I get much less spam on Yahoo than I used to get on my local ISP.

Yahoo learns, ie: I can mark particular senders as spam, and I can set up a blocked list of senders or adresses.

Spam is one of our biggest problems. I read somewhere that 90% of all email is spam and more than 2 % of all internet traffic is spam. Check your logs, Some are always going to get thru. We use a Barracuda 300 here and out of the 28000 or more that hit on a daily basis, 6 or 7 will get thru to each user of the 200 users. If your only getting 6 or 7 a day that may not be so bad.

Spammers should be hunted down and shot!

Years ago when there got to be way to many advertisements and other signs all over the roadsides and highways, the guberment stepped in and passed laws that put restrictions on it. It sure would be nice if we could do similar with all the pop-ups, ads, and spam on the information super highway. When I get a lot of spam or pop-ups from a company, that's all the more reason NOT to do my business with them.

Watch out what you ask for.

The government has already passed laws against spam. In order to do that they had to define it. Now that there's a definition, spammers send out their junk mail within the rules.

If you get multiple identical messages from the same address, it's officially spam. If the messages are different, or the addresses are different, it's officially not spam.

I'm not sure I want the government helping any more.

All I know is I have a bellsouth.net email and a yahoo.com email and I get spam coming out my ears with yahoo. THE BAD PART NOW IS BELLSOUTH USES YAHOO FOR THEIR EMAIL! That makes me so :soapbox:
