The ebay auction closed for $5100. Reserve was $5000

Lets see whether or not anyone posts here about winning the auction.

The last couple of bids in the auction were by bidders with 0 previous ebay activity. When I see that, it makes me suspect that shill bidders were used to drive up the price. But I've been wrong before.... It could just mean that the 1st gen in xtra nice condition brought in some people who don't usually frequent ebay.

Yea, that bike was perty and the lettering on the controls and equipment were flawless but have the retail value of these bikes gone up? As nice as it was, it still seemed a tad steep to me.

Yep... Me too... I put put the value at $3500-$4000, and that's still getting close to the price of a clean '99RSV. A nice '99 silver just sold on Craigs for $4700obo

I was really tempted by that bike. But, I figured I would have to spend about $1,000 on it, (progressive fork springs, valve adjustment and gaskets, heated grips, etc.) to get it to where mine is, so I figured my max price was about $4,000. Still, to me, that would be a great bike for $6,000.

BTW, I paid $5300 for my really pretty 91 in 1997 with 14,000 miles on it. That one just went for $5,100 with 26,000 miles on it, and it is 12 years older! So, I might make money of I wait a little longer.
