E-Fishin-C Posted February 7, 2010 #1 Posted February 7, 2010 Tail of the Dragon...I :dancefool: Only 2 more months than I will be okay :rotfl:
Eck Posted February 7, 2010 #4 Posted February 7, 2010 8 times already... not interested anymore..always looking for virgin territory ..
sarges46 Posted February 7, 2010 #5 Posted February 7, 2010 Yep, we did...or should I say Marilyn rode it and I duck walked it from one end to the other and back again.
Dano Posted February 7, 2010 #6 Posted February 7, 2010 We WOULD have done it after the IR last year if it wasn't for my son.......... This year tho, we will change that!
Kirby Posted February 7, 2010 #7 Posted February 7, 2010 Many times. In my opinion, The Devil's Triangle is better! It's located about 20 miles NW of Knoxville, TN. Not for the faint of heart.
wes0778 Posted February 7, 2010 #8 Posted February 7, 2010 Rode it at the Vogel meet in 2009. (See my signature picture)
indianriverjack Posted February 7, 2010 #9 Posted February 7, 2010 My son and I rode it summer before last, however it reminded me of the many secondary roads in " Almost Heaven West Virginia". " Keep your face in the wind and the rubber side down............
stroker ace Posted February 7, 2010 #10 Posted February 7, 2010 I guess when you grow up on these kind of roads it's just a road to get some where and to others it's a accomplishment to ride such a rode. I live and grew up on the triangle aka hwy 116 and drive or ride the dragon enough that's it's just part of life here. I guess it's one of those things you take for granted. I personally like the cherohala skyway and hwy 64 in Franklin NC scenery is better and no one trying to prove how fast they can get killed. If your into riding curves you can't leave out hwy 421 aka the snake in the Johnson City,TN area. My
Gary N. Posted February 7, 2010 #11 Posted February 7, 2010 Yup, been there, done that and bought the tee shirt and dragon stickers to prove it.
bongobobny Posted February 7, 2010 #12 Posted February 7, 2010 yup we have done the Dragon, it was okay Yup! By the time we finally got there, after all the other roads we took, it was actualy mildly boring! Got pictures of us towing a trailer thru it with a twisted hitch. Leaned really good one way but not the other way...
Snarley Bill Posted February 7, 2010 #13 Posted February 7, 2010 yep rode the dragon at vogel, and got all the neat goodies.
eazyduzzit Posted February 7, 2010 #14 Posted February 7, 2010 I live in Knoxville, and have rode the Dragon (some yankees call it Tail of the Dragon) several times. It was just another back road around here until the flat landers discovered it.
Nighthawk II Posted February 7, 2010 #15 Posted February 7, 2010 I guess when you grow up on these kind of roads it's just a road to get some where and to others it's a accomplishment to ride such a rode. While growing up in Knoxville and having 129, 441, 116, English Mtn. Ocoee, 11W, 25/70 accross the Smokies, and numerous others, a person can stay amazed at how much one can see in this area. I like the Cherohala myself and try to ride it every year. But I usually go on to Cherokee and stay clear of the Dragon worshipers.
1rooster Posted February 7, 2010 #16 Posted February 7, 2010 Yep,about 20 times,BORING.Now if you really want a real ride try The ROOSTER Tail.
Motorcycle Mike Posted February 7, 2010 #17 Posted February 7, 2010 Rode it many times. Hell Bender, hwy 28 is alot more fun IMHO. What, Where is the rooster tail?

1rooster Posted February 7, 2010 #19 Posted February 7, 2010 Rode it many times. Hell Bender, hwy 28 is alot more fun IMHO. What, Where is the rooster tail? Marion NC...North on highway 80 to BRP then south on 226A and north on 226 to BRP then south on 221 back to Marion, about 80 miles total.
wngrr Posted February 7, 2010 #20 Posted February 7, 2010 Done it a few times..... I was lucky enough to ride it before the bike craze hit and it became so popular. I prefered the Cherohala Skyway. While you are in the area you might as well give it a try.. I agree with 1rooster, Hwy 28 is nice as well.. David
Yammer Dan Posted February 7, 2010 #21 Posted February 7, 2010 Rode it but without that crazy bunch I waited at Vogel for the 1st time it would be just another day in the back yard. Then the Bears are not very nice...
gunkylump Posted February 7, 2010 #22 Posted February 7, 2010 Tail of the Dragon...I :dancefool: Only 2 more months than I will be okay :rotfl: Did the tail....lemme see, 5 times, and most of the Snake 1x. The Cherahola (sp) 1x, the entire Blue Ridge Parkway 1x...if you haven't done it, put it on your "bucket" list.....not a bad road, great scenery, great folks, food, cheap gas...and the list goes on. Git 'r done!!! gunk p.s. - beats those northern ontario pot holes hands down!!!
Venturous Randy Posted February 7, 2010 #23 Posted February 7, 2010 Yep,about 20 times,BORING.Now if you really want a real ride try The ROOSTER Tail. The Rooster tail is one of those roads that has a beautiful ride beside a picturesque mountain lake to a nice ride up thru a valley to a road with so many sharp curves you might just run into yourself. Curves with vegetation lined banks so close to the road that it would be easy to get poison ivy on your shoulders. A road that is great on a 1st gen where you can come out of a sharp curve and red line it until you have to shut down for the next curve. A road that when you get to the top and swing on to the Blue Ridge Parkway, it feels so good to be able to take a deep breath, as the road literally took your breath away. Yep, that's the Rooster Tail. RandyA
KarlS Posted February 7, 2010 #24 Posted February 7, 2010 Rode it last year, was OK but more hype then it really is and to many crazy riders. Liked the Cherohala better. But worth doing 1 time.
Skid Posted February 7, 2010 #25 Posted February 7, 2010 I've rode the Dragon on a First Gen and a Second Gen....
