Here is Kent Hartland's DIY With my Version for Added Running Lights.

He shows his version with the standard set-up .

Follow his directions

Mark and drill a pilot hole on the second ring and across from the bolt stud.

I went up to a half inch drill bit and finished with my Dremal sanding tool.

All my drilling was done form the inside as well.

Another thing that is different is place the plastic nut that you just cut REVERSE IT from how Kent show's his. The reason is that it will clear the lens bolt tab perfect. finger tight.

I also used some clear silicon sealer and just placed a small ring around the butt of the light lens as shown. it will squish out a little and wipe right off with ease.

Here it is installed from the inside.

It is almost in the right spot to be able to notice if you forgot to turn off your blinkers.

This one shows that it will be lined up with the blinker bulb.

And a few more all done , takes about an hour or less.

I also added some di-electric grease to my bulbs, they were

extremely dirty inside the bulb contact rings.

Kent's picture was a little blurry, so here is one that might be a little better

to read the part number.

Enjoy,

Jeff

They do not have them in Amber yet, If you find them let me know Mike.

I searched Hi and Low for them that size.

The lens in Kent's pictures are red as well, but show amber in the shots

If the lens is facing the side it must be ambur if it is facing to the rear it must be red. I am not sure what the proper color should be if it is visible to both the side and rear.

You know now that I think of it you guys are correct.

watching those blinkers on the newer mirrors they are red aren't they.

problem solved :D , I don't know these lens are over a half inch round

but there not that Large to cause any jail time I don't think. :whistling:

might want to consider a amber lamp in place of the red to stay legal in Illinois.

Just to hazard a guess here, as long as they aren't facing fwd there shouldn't be an issue. I believe that the red issue is with emergency vehicles and being identified as 1....I could be wrong, sometimes I have been noited as being

:whistling:

Stay Tuned, Going to place one LED on the back of the New LEDs (rings) I have ordered from Custom , And when installed the (1) LED on the back it will go right into the new lens that I have just added to the rear of the blinker. should even be more brighter.

I also ordered to single LEDs in Amber. see if that helps and kicks butt! :D

Red lights are to be mounted on the rear-most part of the vehicle here.

And our laws states that ANY decorative lighting is illegal...

Posted
IF you look most light mounted in car & truck mirrors they are red if facing towards the rear

Not necessarilly ... I'm seeing amber in the one's I observed.

Sheesh Guy's these things are not that big to cause a problem and in the mean time I am looking for clear. sorry I did the write-up. thinking I won't do much more of them as well .:rasberry: I will let you guys know when I get my first ticket from them.

When the Amber shines through it, they do not look that red.

peace,

Jeff

Ohh, Just wait about a week and see what my new mod is to this DYI :whistling:

A New Version if it works! LED aways! I just ordered the Parts and thanks

for the tip guys for Custom Dynamics! great folks down there! spent way to much

money with them today. even got lights *oops* for PRETTY!! Shhhhhhhhhh !:no-no-no:

Posted (edited)

I got my front LED's From Custom Dynamics and there GREAT

Tested them in the bike with-out the box thingy. and they blink just perfect

and now match my rear blinkers in speed .

Having said that, I also added ONE LED to each POD. so it will now go into

the DIY Project that we discussed earlier. now there will be ONE LED in the

rear mod that was made on the blinker housing (lens). the one LED is pretty darn bright and should work fine. the other option is to place a Jumbo Amber LED in the place of this smaller one. anyways here are some pictures of my DIY Mod with the Custom Dynamics LED's You need to use a 470 ohm Diode for this project.

The first one is in a darker setting.

These last two show you what I did. BEFORE I add the heat shrink. YES I have to take it apart to do this. but wanted you to see what it looked like before the heat shrink.

----

It will kind of go in like this (completed)
