Well it's been a hard choice for the last two months. But I finally made it and bought one. I would go between three bikes, well mostly two. The basic harley ultra had every thing I wanted with out shelling out extra cash for add ons. The gold wing ride was so nice and power full and felt so light. But cb radio and cd player are all extras. Like a thousand more to fork out to buy all the pieces to hook them up. The venture also had everything I needed like the ultra had. I kept ruling the venture out because of the top heavy feeling and yamahas refusal to listen to the rides and do some upgrades every once and a while. don't get me wrong, the look isn't bad and the price of a left over model is great. But when comparing 2010 venture and ultra pricing. The ultra wins out with them doing upgrades every once and a while. So it was back to two choices again. The harley I thought was a nice ride for me but the better half said it was not all that comfortable for her. The bikes vibration bothered her back and the side rails for the bags were rubbing on the back of her legs. Found out a friends wife had the same complaints. I always wanted a goldwing so the wife said just go for it, witch I did. She's not real happy because she really likes my fist gen and there nothing wrong with it, that I needed a new bike. The abs brakes, navigation system and the ease of changing tires and cleaning of the bike. Besides it's the closest thing to the first gen that I liked. Jerry

6 cylinders,

fuel injection,

all kinds of on board computers for GPS, ABS, self leveling suspension, radio,

single sided swingarm for easy on the road tire changes,

aluminum frame

At least your getting some technology with it. Look at Harley giving you a 1950's bike for the same price or more. (Ok HD does have Fuel inj and abs.)

At least Yamaha knows their 1950's bike is priced right.

This is the 2003 GL1800 I had. Best bike I ever rode and can't wait until the day I can own another and will never let it go for no one. Put 24,000 miles on it the first summer I had it. Power, comfort, 40+ MPG and I rode it hard. Miss this bike every day. Not a better bike made.

Why the difference in price..

Well for starters:

  • XM Radio with NavTraffic & NavWeather systems

  • Convenience of a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).
  • Premium, six-speaker audio with an 80-watts-per-channel external amplifier.
  • New models come with Cold-weather comfort features like heated grips, a heated seat

  • Foot-level warm-air ducts.
  • Satellite-Linked Navigation System.
  • Integrated anti-lock brakes (ABS).
  • Don't forget Honda's revolutionary airbag system

  • 1832cc liquid-cooled horizontally opposed six-cylinder engine
  • Audio/Comfort Package
  • Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI)
  • Computer-controlled digital with three-dimensional mapping
  • Five-speed including Overdrive
  • electric reverse
  • pro-Link single shock with computer-controlled spring-preload adjustment with two memory presets; 4.1 inches of travel
  • Front brakes = Dual full-floating 296mm discs with CBS three-piston calipers
  • Rear brakes =Single ventilated 316mm disc with CBS three-piston caliper
  • 18 inch front tire - 16 inch rear tire (in place of 16 & 15 inch tires)
  • Electric adjust windshield
  • Electric adjust headlight

And yes lots of plastic.. :whistling:

but lookie here, so does the RSV and every other type of vehicle these days.. :stickpoke:

I really like my GW and I "loved" my RSV..

Both are really fine bikes and yet both have their problems as well as any other type bike so to think one is better then the other is like Chevy v/s Dodge v/s Ford, we all have our reasons as to why we own what we own..

Your house my be white aluminum siding, mine may be brick, but that doesn't mean mine is better.

Where does it end.....:confused24:

Besides my GW, with the pull behind trailer and a side car body was only 12K....

just couldn't pass it up..:biker:

What electric adjust windshield ? My 05 doesn't have that, do the later ones ? I looked on the 2010 site, it didn't mention that. :puzzled:
