Ok guys heres my problem, i am adding a highway blaster horn I picked up at autozone for 20 bucks (139db) i am mounting it in the front fairing. i have pulled a 12g 30 amp fused line from the battery to the fairing and i know it runs in to 30 on the relay, 87 will run to the horn it self i am running from the handle bar switch wire to 86 on the relay now my question whats running to 85 i know probably simple answer but basic backyard mechanic here lolol giving it my best thanks for any help

85 hot for solenoid 86 ground horn button .85,and86 can be switched they just energize the relay

You can run a short jumper from 30 to 85 assumeing the horn triger is a groung circut

I need to look for my diagram that I got from Bongobob. He helped me out on mine. The trick is you use the wire from the horn button ONLY to complete the ground to fire the horns other wise the button can't handle the load. I'll post the diagram if I can find it or maybe Bob will pop in on this.

Hey Tony

Yep.....there ya go. Didn't find my diagram but that one does the trick.

All I had was a comment from MiCarl.

"I believe that hot is supplied to the horn by the ignition switch and the horns are activated by providing the ground through the button.

You should be probing for the wire that grounds when pushing the horn button.

On my upgrade I just plugged the relays into the connectors for the stock horns (saved doing any thinking!)."

Like he said I just used the exsiting wires and ran the ground to the "+" wire off the horn button.

Took me two days of tinkering until I asked these guys for help.

It will become clear in the morning.

Yah! Take the 2 wires that goes to the horn and connect them to the primary coil of the relay, and you should be good to go. It doesn't matter which wire goes where as the couil has no polarity. As you have stated, one relay contact goes to 12volts and the other contact to the plus of the horn. The minus of the horn goes to ground...
