Mel Posted February 5, 2010 #1 Posted February 5, 2010 Well, it finally got started and their forecasts are coming to fruition. Lots of heavy, wet snow and really bad conditions. Makes me thankful to be retired and able to choose to not go out. Central Indiana is getting it's share of weather out of this huge system. I can hear sirens right now here in the Castleton area of northeast Indy. Looks like we have 3 to 4 inches, strong easterly wind, and a lot more snow to come. It's just plain nasty. Now all you southerners can take your best shots.
Freebird Posted February 5, 2010 #2 Posted February 5, 2010 The good news here is that most of the snow had finally just about melted away yesterday. The bad news is that it is snowing like crazy now...probably about an inch already and they are saying up to 6 inches tonight.
mini-muffin Posted February 5, 2010 #3 Posted February 5, 2010 Well down south it's mostly rain. Of course our weather folks are telling us that we may end up with more snow here too. My yard is so soggy it isn't even funny. All the snow from last weekend melted and the yard defrosted, now more rain. I may need a boat before next month if this stuff doesn't stop. Maybe one that had ski's on it for when we freeze over. Margaret
bj66 Posted February 5, 2010 #4 Posted February 5, 2010 When it starts looking like this outside let me know! Then I'll feel your pain.
mini-muffin Posted February 5, 2010 #5 Posted February 5, 2010 BJ you live in SD. Some of us don't like snow and ice. Margaret
Bummer Posted February 5, 2010 #6 Posted February 5, 2010 Finally, some normal winter. Looks like I'll be getting up early to take Irene to work. She has a pickup and doesn't like to drive in the slick.
eusa1 Posted February 5, 2010 #8 Posted February 5, 2010 Sunny and 55 here go back to Michigan and talk that talk!!
Bummer Posted February 5, 2010 #9 Posted February 5, 2010 Sunny and 55 here Ow ow ow. Easy with that stick. At least I got a 50 mile ride in yesterday. It was a balmy 42. Over the road surface. 38 standing air temp. Not too bad for Indiana this time of year.
wakers Posted February 5, 2010 #10 Posted February 5, 2010 I am a Marylander and live in the western part of the state where we are suppose to get 30-36 inches of snow. What's worse. I had to start my RSTD up and scoot it up in the garage to make room for the snow blower from the shed. Starting it up made me long for a nice spring day.
Squidley Posted February 5, 2010 #11 Posted February 5, 2010 go back to Michigan and talk that talk!! Sorry brother, I spent more time in Michigan than I wanted to....I'm gonna enjoy this type of winter for the rest of my days
Bummer Posted February 5, 2010 #12 Posted February 5, 2010 Can't say I blame ya' Squid. If the job situation doesn't change here in the rust belt I'll be looking that way too.
starkruzen Posted February 6, 2010 #13 Posted February 6, 2010 Not bad here. In fact going on a long relaxing ride tomorrow. Thinking about you folks..
Eddie Posted February 6, 2010 #14 Posted February 6, 2010 Sorry brother, I spent more time in Michigan than I wanted to....I'm gonna enjoy this type of winter for the rest of my days That's why there talking about this huge surplus of food and ice creme:cry:
BoomerCPO Posted February 6, 2010 #15 Posted February 6, 2010 For the 1st time since 1972 the weather forecast for Noo England is NOT going to have any impact on my plans to ride tomorrow. Whoudda thunk it!! Boomer.....doing a nekkid happy dance, slugging down a cold beer, and won't be making no more yaller snow.
Riderduke Posted February 6, 2010 #16 Posted February 6, 2010 I am a Marylander and live in the western part of the state where we are suppose to get 30-36 inches of snow. What's worse. Yup just finnished shoveling the first 6 inches. gonna be he!! by the morning. but hey they are only saying we gonna get 18-24 inches. I grew up in NH, I guess I didn't move far enough south.
Carbon_One Posted February 6, 2010 #17 Posted February 6, 2010 Only traces of snow on the ground here. Only flurries at the momnet & 30* , But we're excepted to get 1-3 inches by tomorrow. All the heavy stuff is hitting about 40 miles south of me around Toledo, Ohio and south of that. Larry
Dano Posted February 6, 2010 #18 Posted February 6, 2010 Shoveled 4" off the deck when I got home at 6, ate dinner messed around, an hour later scooped another 1-1/2" off when I went back out. Glad I took the bike out the other nite for a quick 1/2 hr spin! Guess the boy will make some $$ tomorrow with the quad!
Dano Posted February 6, 2010 #19 Posted February 6, 2010 Just thought you might like a reminder there Brad, plus I love the way snow makes all that yard work and painting I need to do disappear!
KarlS Posted February 6, 2010 #20 Posted February 6, 2010 Let it snow let it snow let it snow. JUST NOT HERE.
Squidley Posted February 6, 2010 #21 Posted February 6, 2010 Just thought you might like a reminder there Brad, plus I love the way snow makes all that yard work and painting I need to do disappear! OOOOOHHH AAAAAHHHH so pretty, especially since it's 1000 miles north of me right now! BTW I shoveled the old mans driveway 3 times while we were up there over the holidays FOOEY!
mini-muffin Posted February 6, 2010 #22 Posted February 6, 2010 Well it's still raining here. YUCK!! Anybody got an ark? Margaret
Gamecock Posted February 6, 2010 #23 Posted February 6, 2010 I'm at work in Arlington, VA right now and it ain't pretty outside. This is miserable. I'll probably have 12-15 inches of snow built up at the house before I get home tomorrow around noon. I normally work 8 hours, but they have bumped us to 12 and possibly 16 if people can't get in. UGLY YGLY UGLY Ben:snow:
Sleeperhawk Posted February 6, 2010 #24 Posted February 6, 2010 Well at least you can still see the road, remember the last major snow storm I was in, a group of us had flash lights out the side windows to tell the driver he was still on the road and not the bar ditches. When it starts looking like this outside let me know! Then I'll feel your pain.
Zfrebird4 Posted February 6, 2010 #25 Posted February 6, 2010 Sun in and out today in Ft Collins. Light clouds mid to low 40's; has to be mid to uppermost 40's, and preferrably in the low 50's for this 'more mature' rider. No snow down tough on the roads. Ahhhh, the best of CO is just starting up for another year! Hang in there those of you building snow forts. It'll pass. JackZ Waiting for all of you when you drop by. Jz
