Charging System Difference

Is there a differance between the 83 and the 86 charging systems? Is the rectifier/stator interchangable? How about coils? Are they the same?

No difference. yep on the reg/rec and 2 pickup coils. Again....yep.

I would like to remind folks that the 83-89 has 4 pickups, two pickup carriers with 2 pickups on each.

Thanks for the note on that. It is two sets. And hey Mike.....on the newer models with the single pickup, is it about the same configuration or totally different? I've never seen a new set up.

Neither have I Mike. But would like to see one and the stator and magnet arrangement.
