cimack77 Posted February 1, 2010 #1 Posted February 1, 2010 Just purchased 1988 Venture and I am in the process of cleaning up and changing fluids. I am in need of the side panel vents/louvers (both). If anyone has a pair let me know.. cimack77
Yammer Dan Posted February 1, 2010 #2 Posted February 1, 2010 Hard item to get. Watch E-Bay and they are costly. Save the ones you have for pieces may be able to use them to patch others. There are also covers for the holes or you can just leave them open. In hot weather the covers are nice.
friesman Posted February 1, 2010 #3 Posted February 1, 2010 There was a member in here that was making stainless inserts a while back that had a nice flame cutout. I was very impressed with the quality. Sorry a cant remember more info, maybe try a search in here. Brian
cimack77 Posted February 1, 2010 Author #4 Posted February 1, 2010 Thanks everyone. Some parts can be hard to find, just trying to save some buck... cimack77
GaryZ Posted February 1, 2010 #5 Posted February 1, 2010 I like the look with these panels removed. The heat is really nice in the winter and really hot in the summer. I think I am going to fabricate clear windows for these panels this spring . . .
skydoc_17 Posted February 1, 2010 #6 Posted February 1, 2010 I have a pair of the vents. Two of the tabs have been JB welded back on (not visible when installed) ALL OF THE LOUVERS are fully functional. $130 for the pair, shipping is free.If you are interested, PM me. Earl
emtdouggood Posted February 2, 2010 #7 Posted February 2, 2010 i did see a pair on e-bay the other day- they still should be on.
cimack77 Posted February 2, 2010 Author #8 Posted February 2, 2010 Thanks for the response by everyone, especially skydoc 17. However, we are still cleaning and prepping for state inspection..We are limited in funds and can not take advantage of skydoc 17 generous offer. For now contemplating manufacturing a replacement (using aluminum or polished sheetmetel) and use of circular aluminum vents...come in 1", 2" and 3"... will be different but functional. cimack77
Monty Posted February 2, 2010 #9 Posted February 2, 2010 Look at the pics of my '83 in my profile. That's what I am using.
cimack77 Posted February 2, 2010 Author #10 Posted February 2, 2010 Monty: Can you tell me more about your side vents. cimack77
Monty Posted February 2, 2010 #11 Posted February 2, 2010 Just cut them about an inch bigger than the hole, and use double-sided tape to hold them in place. Go to lowe's and buy some flashing, cut them, and tape them in. Mine work great, look pretty good and they stay in place.
cimack77 Posted February 2, 2010 Author #12 Posted February 2, 2010 Thanks Monty for the info.. cimack77
warthogcrewchief Posted February 2, 2010 #13 Posted February 2, 2010 If you have the money to spend, I saw them new on bikebandit.com! I forget the price, but it wasn't cheap.
