Having just retired, so got to watch money, and really like the part about doing it myself, I'm going to order a Tri-Wing kit for my 05 venture in the morning. So what do you all think of that, good move or not. I know hanigans are nicer, but this is my way to trike it and keep money cost down some. Your imput is welcome.

If I'm not mistaken, Larry Skeels (Carbon One) has a TriWing kit on his '05 and did it all himself. You might want to get in contact with him and chat a bit about it. He's a wealth of knowledge and is more than happy to help any and all here

Squidley is right as my trike is a Tri-Wing kit. I also like the Hannigans and like you did it myself to save some bucks. Besides being a retired mechanic I just couldn't see not doing the work myself. The only thing I didn't do was paint as that's not my forte. Best to leave stuff like that to better folks who will get you a professionally finsihed job imo.

Jonesy if you have any questions drop me an e-mail and I'll be happy to forward tips and other info I've learned doing my conversion.

Currently I'm redoing some things to the trikes body and will be sending it back to the body shop for paint.

Yes, the triwing is a good economical alternative to the Hannigan and you will most likely be satisfied with it. Myself, I decided to go with the Hannigan for the independant rear suspension and better braking along with the rake kit for the front forks, and it is going to cost me one of my 401K's to do it, but that is my personal preference...

Yep, tri-wing is a great kit. as mentioned above.

I almost went that route as well: real close, but went the other way instead.

but that is me,and yes Hanniagn will empty your wallet too! :D but loving every minuite of the Trike world now. as I am sure you will. Give Larry a call, great guy and he will tell you all about them, and what to do and not to do.

Very Nice!! Do you have any pics of the frame work/rearend without the body on it?? What changes are you making to the body??

Basicly on the body I've removed all the tail lights and am installing the trailer led lights along with a pair of new 9" led lights under the trunk. They will replace the 3rd brake light I had before. These will act as running, turn, & brake lights in conjuction with the trailer style lights. Also I've built an axiluary 4 gal fuel tank and mounted it under the body and will have a filler neck top side of the body for easy access. I don't think I'll be running short of fuel anymore. :whistling:

Due to some cracks from body flexing, stone chips etc, and all of this work, the body and the trailer will be repainted & pin stripped before going on the road again.

I'll attach a few pics from before and now of the framing.

Prior to parking for the winter I converted the drum brakes over to dics as well. Much better stopping power now .:thumbsup2:

Larry, BTW I found the strong points on the rear for the Hannigan

while working on it over the winter for the lift one day. I also noticed

the the rear of the body is molded into the frame. this way after you get

\done with your project now, I have another one for you to start! :whistling::D
