sdurr Posted April 1, 2010 #26 Posted April 1, 2010 up-date on 3m molding tape. 120 mile ride wind blowing like crazy. tape works great, no movement, solid like a rock! thanks for your help steve
naturbar Posted April 1, 2010 #27 Posted April 1, 2010 is it me ...or are your blockers mounted incorrectly ? looks like the parts sticking up to block the wind is actually the part that goes under the cowling ?? These work.
BuddyRich Posted April 1, 2010 #28 Posted April 1, 2010 What ever works I guess. But here's a link to the way I put them on. Click here for PDF
sdurr Posted April 1, 2010 #29 Posted April 1, 2010 naturbar what link are you refering to ? they were installed correctly. surface was preped with alcohol. they were not secure. what can i say steve
Mike G in SC Posted April 1, 2010 #30 Posted April 1, 2010 The blocks I got were too small,,, but I can cut some from computer packing foam any time. WHAT DID WORK,,, was the Saran Wrap Buddy wrapped the deflectors in!!! I balled it up and stuck it in the same place the foam goes. Hey, then I got some more from the kitchen and made two Saran Wrap balls about an inch or two in diameter. They have been in there for two months. Like Buddy said,,, what ever works. Buddy, I got the lower vents. Have not installed them yet,,,, but wanted to tell you they look great. I kept the Saran Wrap,,, never know.
BuddyRich Posted April 2, 2010 #31 Posted April 2, 2010 Just don't let the saran wrap get sucked into the air filter. It makes the bike run funny I was cutting them too small at first. And what I use is computer packing foam.
mag1101 Posted April 2, 2010 #32 Posted April 2, 2010 I got my blockers from Buddy the other day and had the same problem with them not matching the contour of the fairing and the Velcro not making good contact I installed them with black plastic license plate nuts and bolts (nut on the under side)...looks good and holds good. They do a good job at blocking the wind and would recommend them. I installed them on my RSTD. NOTE: Use the Velcro between the fairing and the blockers and just snug them up until they feel secure and then check them again after you ride some.
