CrazyHorse Posted January 28, 2010 #28 Posted January 28, 2010 I realize this is subject to varied points of view, but perhaps there will be a consensus on a few states which are favorites for motorcycling in. Please explain WHY you think the states you chose are the best and include any EVIDENCE or PHOTO's to support your valued opinions! Thanks! I'm lookng for a few new places to travel this springtime! Sunrayman:scratchchin: I vote against Illinois, Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa.

Sunrayman:scratchchin: I think the 5 top states to motorcycle in are Montana, Vermont, Maine, Minnesota and New York. I think the 5 lower states to motorcycle in are Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Florida and Louisiana.
bryan52577 Posted January 29, 2010 #30 Posted January 29, 2010 To many to choose just 5 from. I have been in every state all though not on the motorcycle. (But that is in the works.) They all have there good areas. Around here > N/E Iowa is good, N/W Illinois is good, S/W Wisconsin is great (just about any road), S/E Minnesota is good, and south central Missouri and on south or along any river road is great. Some states may have good or great roads for 20 to 30 mile stretches then it's another 100 to 200 miles to the next good road. That would be Iowa. But if you are on the motorcycle they are ALL GREAT!!! Bryan
E-Fishin-C Posted January 29, 2010 #31 Posted January 29, 2010 Hawaii... Alaska, Tennesse, Kentucky, West Virgina
FROG MAN Posted January 29, 2010 #32 Posted January 29, 2010 This thread is to much pressure. I need a ride this weekend. Right after I plow the driveway.
Sunrayman Posted January 29, 2010 Author #33 Posted January 29, 2010 This thread is to much pressure. I need a ride this weekend. Right after I plow the driveway. That's why I asked the question! I am HANKERIN' to get on my bike and ride! The roads have too much salt on them for me to get it all over my bike! I may invest in a trailer to take my bike somewhere next year! Sunrayman:sun:

Picking five states myself though, I'll keep Wisconsin on the list, but then ad Arkansas (NW corner), Missouri (pretty much anything south of I-44 all the way across the state), Tennessee, northern Georgia, and SW North Carolina.
BEER30 Posted January 29, 2010 #35 Posted January 29, 2010 Hawaii... Alaska, Tennesse, Kentucky, West Virgina About time someone mentioned Alaska . Any road you get on is an adventure around any curve ! That Al-Can Highway is pretty awesome as well as the Prince George Hwy . BEER30
straycatt Posted January 29, 2010 #36 Posted January 29, 2010 1. Any state but Michigan 2. Any state but Michigan 3. Any state but Michigan 4. Any state but Michigan 5. Any state but Michigan Michigan has some nice things to see, but the condition of our roads is horrible. That and Michigan has three curvy roads and I been on all of them.
bongobobny Posted January 29, 2010 #37 Posted January 29, 2010 Hmmm, 5 states?? 1. Euphoria 2. Relaxation 3. Pleasure 4. Adventure 5. Freedom Oh, not mental states, physical states. Well, lemme see North Carolina. Especially the western half. Lots of winding roads thru the mountains and many sights to see. Arizona, the Grand Canyon State. Plenty of sightseeing to the north. Also pretty much all year long riding California. From cities to wide open country, a great seaside ride, many points of interest Massachusetts. Loaded with history and sights galore! Arkansas. There isn't a bad road to take! Lots of winding roads! It is very difficult to limit it to just 5. How about the top 10? Then I could add NY, Vermont, Tennessee, New Mexico and Oregon. After that Pennsylvania, Utah, Virginia, Ohio and Colorado followed by Missouri, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire and Maine, ete...
Midrsv Posted January 29, 2010 #38 Posted January 29, 2010 Here's my list: Utah, Colorado, Montana, N. Carolina and my home state of KY. Definitely not: Kansas, Nebraska
Squidley Posted January 29, 2010 #39 Posted January 29, 2010 :rotf: Hey Brad, Contrary to popular belief Northern Ca is not a state....:rotf: Dont say that to the guys that live up in those mtns HWY 36 out of Red Bluff to the coast is one of the best roads I have ever been on
petekadish Posted January 29, 2010 #40 Posted January 29, 2010 Only three votes for Utah! Wow, some of you are missing out. If you do make it out here, beware of Utah drivers. Most of them are from California. I know - I'm one of them. Sure, it's a little chilly here in the wintertime, but we make up for it in the summer. At least that's what I tell myself all winter long. Be Safe! Pete.
Moose Posted January 29, 2010 #41 Posted January 29, 2010 The best states to ride in are NE Illinois and NW Indiana. You can take all those sunny, twisting two lanes that all seem to lead to Nirvana, but for my money, if you want a real thrill ride that will test your driving abilities, eye sight, reflex time, and sphincter muscle... well then there's no place like driving to or from Chicago to Gary along the Dan Ryan and Borman Expressways! For adding a degree of difficulty, do it 2-up hauling a trailer!
BARKEEP1956 Posted January 29, 2010 #42 Posted January 29, 2010 Evidently non of you boys have ever been to New England

Bummer Posted January 29, 2010 #46 Posted January 29, 2010 Evidently non of you boys have ever been to New England Nope, I haven't. But the area's on my to-go list. If nothing else New England is on the way to Nova Scotia, which is near the top of that list.
