Got a friend looking for a RSTD. Found a dealer with a new, 0 miles 2006 RSTD Midnight. They want 11k. Seems kinda high for a 4 year old bike? Any input here?

$11,000 seems quite high for a 4 year old model. I'd start the bidding at about $8,000, wouldn't go any higher than $9,000. 0 miles is nice, but the bike is 4 years old.

I'll be contrary and say if he can get it out the door for $11,000, with the full 5 year warranty starting the day he buys it, fully serviced, its an ok price.

The avg retail for a used 06 RSTD is $9290. The warranty won't start until he buys it so he'll still get the full 5 yr warranty. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the bank (or atleast my credit union) will not look at it as new but, an 06 model and mine looks at the value as $9290. That being said, I would offer them at most $9290 because thats what the insurance co and the bank will say its worth.

He can always contact his bank or credit union and see what the loan value on it is and go from there.

KBB shows that bike to sell for $9270 and thats with an average of 18000 miles on it. I think with 0 miles and full warranty its worth every penny of $10k.

I'm not wanting to be argumentative, but...

Isn't the whole idea of buying anything to get what you want for the lowest price possible?

That being said, an '06 with 0 miles or 10,000 miles, it doesn't matter. It's still an '06 with a book value of around $9,000. Now this seller (I assume it's a dealer) has owned this bike for 4 years paying insurance & taxes for flooring it, plus it's taking space that a more current model could be using.

Pick, your friend should take all of this in account to make a fairly educated offer. The seller should be motivated to unload it.

That's my 2 cents worth. Good luck to your buddy with the purchase. If he does get it, I guarantee he will enjoy it.

That sounds more like it.. albeit a waning warranty.

I picked up a 07 RSTD with only 1340 miles recently for $8556 at a Honda dealer ($9615 Drive out).. so there are deals out there.. so many bikes for sale right now...

I love it so far... starting on the mods...

He might be able to deal with the dealer, but I would get some new tires on the bike. Four year old brand new tires may not be healthy.

Think of it this way. What would you say if you went to the dealer and had new tires put on your bike, brought it home and checked date codes and found them to be four years old. You would go back. If nothing else, consider you are buying four year old tires, along with everything else.

I bought my '06 RSMV a year ago Nov... it was used with only 1300 kilometers on it. Paid $12,900 and the insurance co valued it at $16,000 ... but... that's here in CanNuhDuh...eh.
