starkruzen Posted January 23, 2010 #1 Posted January 23, 2010 I had a full day installing an air horn and the Electric Connections LED brake lights. I mounted the air horn on the front of my RSTD on the plactic dirt gaurd located at the top of the forks. just drilled and hole and bolted and it works well. I'll post some pictures tomorrow. On the LED ring lights that mount inside of the rear turn signs had four of the 12 LED's blown! Know I'll I have to take it all apart and return fro a new one. Just my luck. Got the bike all back togetehr and my new spark plugs arrived in the mail!!! I'll save that job for mext week:97:
72ranger Posted January 24, 2010 #2 Posted January 24, 2010 (edited) I mounted the air horn on the front of my RSTD on the plactic dirt gaurd located at the top of the forks. j I thought I would pass this along to you. I met a guy with a RSV on a toy run this year, that mounted his Stebel air horn right where you described. When he hit one of our famous Oklahoma pot holes he drove this horn in to the to of his fender. It stamped a perfect imprint of the bottom of the horn.I wouldn't want to read a post from you stating the same thing... Just looking out for ya!!! You will be glad you put it on though, its an attention getter!! Edited January 24, 2010 by 72ranger
starkruzen Posted January 24, 2010 Author #3 Posted January 24, 2010 Dang! I didn't think of that! Man, your a bummer...not realy, good advice. Guess I should move it but where?
gunkylump Posted January 24, 2010 #4 Posted January 24, 2010 Dang! I didn't think of that! Man, your a bummer...not realy, good advice. Guess I should move it but where? You can mount it where the existing Yammie horn is on the throttle side of the bike down by the exhaust. Carbon One sells a bracket that makes it fit like a glove, he also sells a wiring harness if you don't want to install your own. It's a slick application, almost looks factory! gunk:D
72ranger Posted January 24, 2010 #5 Posted January 24, 2010 I mounted mine on the right side in place of the stock horn. You will have to use 90 deg connectors but it fits well there. Sorry for the bad news....
Rickster Posted January 24, 2010 #6 Posted January 24, 2010 Which model did you use I see there are two different ones, I've been looking into mounting these myself sometime this winter. Thanks for the info also on the Carbon One bracket. Safe riding
72ranger Posted January 24, 2010 #7 Posted January 24, 2010 I used this one "http://www.twistedthrottle.com/trade/productview/2137/ 11185-Chrome". I am curious if I can fit another one where the other stock horn is located. I haven't had the plastic cover off, but it doesn't look promising...
SilvrT Posted January 24, 2010 #8 Posted January 24, 2010 Dang! I didn't think of that! Man, your a bummer...not realy, good advice. Guess I should move it but where? Here's some info and pics of where I installed mine... http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=41530&highlight=stebel
72ranger Posted January 25, 2010 #9 Posted January 25, 2010 I purchased a chrome bracket from Ace for my install. I am terrible at fabricating.... SilvrT did a good job on his, and is more out of the way! Here is how I did mine.
