hhhmmmmm some one removed the trunk and hard bags or put a fairing on a TD....

Yep, they just put some leather saddle bags and the venture front fairing on a regular royal star... Reserve not me at over 4500???

Good luck, or as they say... Happy bidding!!!

the fifth gear acting :confused24: as an overdrive. This all keeps the motor purring gently, never needing to be revved very hard to accelerate. The final drive is the usual shaft setup that is maintenance free and that's the way it should be.

:scratchchin: Whatcha wanna bet he's never ridden one??? :stirthepot::stirthepot::stirthepot:

$495 is the dealers profits. I'll bet this bike was totalled by the insurance co and sold thru an auction. Makes me wonder if it has a clean title.

Appears to be setting in front of a used car stealership.

Wouldn't the VIN, (JYAVP04E7XA002318), tell us what it is for sure? Do they have a "Car Facts" for motorcycles? Every site I go to wants $35-$40 to look. But none of them say if they do cycles.

I'm obviously not a Gen2 expert. But I can look up "Yamaha 1999 Royal Star Venture Cruiser /Touring 1300cc" and see that it's not all there. And I have no idea what its worth.

... I couldn't imagine only riding 5k miles in 10 years...
Really. That's just seriously sad.

On the other hand, in '90 I bought an '85VR with under 5k miles on it. I was glad to get a new five year old bike.

I am pretty sure it is a Venture. Based on the color of all the painted parts - this color was never made for the Royal Stars - Only for the Venture bikes and if I remember right the 1999 only. The tank is a Venture tank and it would not fit the frame of the older Stars. And putting the fairing and all the goodies on an older Royal Star would be a pain in the bu** and not worth the trouble and time. It seems to me that the guy wanted to fit the Corbin seat (or whatever it is) and opted for removing the trunk and get a more sportier look. I still don´t get it - I have the trunk and hard bags for putting on my 1998 R.star but this guy removed them. And then again like you guys said - It might be a salvage title bike. But a Venture for sure - no doubt!

5k on a 99. Didn't ride it much. Wern't the older ones less hp. When did the start making them with more hp?

The older ones or the "Royal Star Tour Classics II and Boulevards had less horsepower. Smaller carbs or the 28mm Mikunis against 32mm for the Venture. Around 64 hp versus around 96 hp for the Venture. Not sure about other things but I am sure Lynn (pegscraper) can fill us in on the matter.

My 1998 is being prepared for surgery and getting the V-Max cams and the bigger carbs. Will be interesting to ride that thing after the operation - going from 64 hp to 96 hp.

I sent him an email asking where the rest of the bike was. This is what I got back, "The original owner cutomized this bike, added a studded seat with studded saddle bags and took off the rear truk."
