starkruzen Posted January 20, 2010 #1 Posted January 20, 2010 What do I need to get to have my rear turn signals to light up when I brake. Any assistance will be appreciated.
kenw Posted January 20, 2010 #2 Posted January 20, 2010 Give these folks a try. It's a simple installation and works fine for me. www.electricalconnection.com
starkruzen Posted January 20, 2010 Author #3 Posted January 20, 2010 Thanks Ken! I placed the order. Mark:cool10:
Dave77459 Posted January 20, 2010 #4 Posted January 20, 2010 Electrical Connection is the one I used. You may or may not find my detailed installation instructions helpful. The first photo is with the brakes applied, the second is with the turn signal on--you can see the donut LED on the left stalk. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3260/3158548664_dcb8545aa1_m.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3622/3941031059_62174fd7e7_m.jpg Dave
TomMar Posted January 20, 2010 #5 Posted January 20, 2010 Can you tell me which part you ordered / used for the brake light mods? Thanks,

starkruzen Posted January 20, 2010 Author #7 Posted January 20, 2010 I ordered this: Turn signal conversion kit with running & brake function circuits. p/n 01315 l $49.95/pr
starkruzen Posted January 20, 2010 Author #8 Posted January 20, 2010 It's so nive here..I think I'll go for a ride...
starkruzen Posted January 22, 2010 Author #9 Posted January 22, 2010 okay, my my light kit today in the mail...I was reading over the instructions and it says to glue the LED disc to inside of the turn signal lens!!! That sounds kinda odd to me. Is this for real? Is it easy to center? Mark
2Whlsrollin Posted January 22, 2010 #10 Posted January 22, 2010 Yes it's easy to center, put a dab on the end of each light. Let it sit for a good while so it can dry. I left mine overnight.
Guest oldroadstar Posted January 22, 2010 #11 Posted January 22, 2010 The most difficult part is running the wire through the turn signal stalk. Anyone else have trouble doing that?
starkruzen Posted January 22, 2010 Author #12 Posted January 22, 2010 (edited) Okay from1-10 being the hardest. What would rate intalling these lights. I'm machanically inclined, infact I installed passing lights a little while a go and that was about a 3 on the hard scale Edited January 22, 2010 by starkruzen

I agree Okay from1-10 being the hardest. What would rate intalling these lights. I'm machanically inclined, infact I installed passing lights a little while a go and that was about a 3 on the hard scale I would rate these a 4. i'm so so when it comes to working on bikes. but i do lean quickly. Once i got the wire run through the turn signals it wasn't that bad.
starkruzen Posted January 23, 2010 Author #14 Posted January 23, 2010 One question, how to you get the wires into the turn signal housing? Do you drill a hole or what? The bulb socket seems very tight, and I afriad to try and force it off....any advice? Thanks Mark
Guest oldroadstar Posted February 10, 2010 #15 Posted February 10, 2010 It's tight but the rubber piece can be pushed out of the stalk.
The Marshal Posted February 10, 2010 #16 Posted February 10, 2010 For the Lazy amongst us, I highly recommend the Kuryakn Triple Whammy #4602 Now this says it is for the VStar 1300 .... well it plugs right in to my 2007 RSTD with no problemos. The beauty of this thing it is Plug n PLay. Takes a whole 10 minutes to install. Comes with the clear lenses, 2 red bulbs, the unit and a load equalizer, which you will use. There is a removable jumper on the unit, that when in place causes the turn signals & brake to flash *4 times* when you hit the brakes. If you remove the jumper, it will not flash. This is a huge safety upgrade, IMO, and should be one of the first purchases on the list. http://www.kuryakyn.com/images/item/MainProduct/4603-1.jpg ~Bill
