sarges46 Posted January 19, 2010 #4 Posted January 19, 2010 Ram for everything! They might be a little more but well worth it all the way! They usually have a solution for anything you can throw at them.
First_N_Last Posted January 19, 2010 #5 Posted January 19, 2010 Ram for everything! They might be a little more but well worth it all the way! They usually have a solution for anything you can throw at them. I agree... spend the money for RAM mounts.
Sideoftheroad Posted January 19, 2010 Author #6 Posted January 19, 2010 Little more compared to which other mounts? I checked out the RAM site and seems like the total cost is like $40. To me that is pretty cheap. How secure it is as far as theft goes? Any solutions to theft prevention short of a pit bull, rottweiler (better have a big sidecar lol) or Smith N Wesson? I do understand that if someone wants something they are gonna do what they can to get it. Thanks.

The dealer I got mine from is mfauls..... Edited January 19, 2010 by Skid
Sideoftheroad Posted January 19, 2010 Author #8 Posted January 19, 2010 looks like the seller is mfauls. Looked at all his auctions for my model Streetpilot. It has one of them that is $42 (after shipping cost) or $36 w/ free shipping.
Bummer Posted January 19, 2010 #9 Posted January 19, 2010 Ram sells a locking knob to replace the knob that comes on the extension.
SilvrT Posted January 19, 2010 #10 Posted January 19, 2010 Here's a link to a post showing how I mounted my Sirius ... might work for a GPS ...? http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showpost.php?p=393065&postcount=5
raceman62race Posted January 19, 2010 #11 Posted January 19, 2010 And here is a link that shows a neat way to mount the Ram Mount http://www.motorcyclelarry.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_4&products_id=8
dynodon Posted January 19, 2010 #12 Posted January 19, 2010 Locking knob may only keep part of the Ram mount from being stolen, but on my setup with a Garmin, you can still easily pop the GPS out of the mount at any time. I just loosen mine up and just leave only the ball mount on the handlebar and put the rest in the trunk or take it with me. Takes just a few seconds.
Sideoftheroad Posted January 22, 2010 Author #14 Posted January 22, 2010 Just ordered my ram mount from mfauls on e-bay. Has anyone hardwired a streetpilot 2730? If so, how? Thanks Jerry.
Sideoftheroad Posted January 24, 2010 Author #15 Posted January 24, 2010 bump about hardwiring my streetpilot.

sarges46 Posted January 24, 2010 #17 Posted January 24, 2010 I found this for you to check out. http://www.thegpsstore.com/Garmin-Motorcycle-Mt-StreetPilot-261026202720-P224.aspx Sounds like the right thing to me. Edit.....oops looks like wizard beat me and at a better price too. If you search his site listed there is a part with only the cable for 28 bucks. But to me the extra cradle and all is well worth the 6 bucks more.
