Grisolm1 Posted January 18, 2010 #1 Posted January 18, 2010 My Air Cutoff Diaphragms are Fubared. Do I need to spend the extra $100 to replace all four? What is their effect on driveability?
skydoc_17 Posted January 18, 2010 #2 Posted January 18, 2010 Try Sirius Consolidated Inc., (The folks we get the regular Carb. Diaphragms from) Tell them you are with VentureRider.ORG and they should give you a discount. I think they are in the $15.00 Range. If they will not give you a discount, PM me, I have a business account with them. The Sirius Part number is 88-Y001. Hope this helps, Earl
Dano Posted January 18, 2010 #3 Posted January 18, 2010 Hey Earl, if I'm rebuilding a set that has sat for 6 yrs, should I go ahead and replace them also?
skydoc_17 Posted January 18, 2010 #4 Posted January 18, 2010 Hey Dan, When ever I take a set of Carbs. apart I pull the cover to the cut off valves and check for two things, one is corrosion on the spring from moisture collecting in the cavity where the shut off valve sits and the other thing I look for is a tear, rip or puncture in the Diaphragm itself. Sometimes you only need to replace one or two, I don't usually replace the entire set unless the person I am doing the Carbs. for is really rich or really picky. I've never had one I have visually inspected give me any trouble after the Carbs. were put back on the bike. The same goes for you Dano, if Sirius wont give you the discount, let me know. Earl
