barend Posted January 17, 2010 #1 Posted January 17, 2010 Getting ready to jump in the shower, no water!!!:scratchchin: First thing going through your head is, is the water bill paid? Answered that by looking at the meter going 90mph . Must have caught it right after it happened 'cause I don't have a lake anywhere yet, It's raining cats and dogs , guess I'll tackle that in the a.m. Bummer, I hate getting dirty:bang head:
Aimhigh Posted January 17, 2010 #2 Posted January 17, 2010 had the same thing occur to us...what a pain!
wes0778 Posted January 17, 2010 #3 Posted January 17, 2010 The entire city of Jackson, Mississippi has been out of water for several days. The extreme cold weather we have had in January caused broken water mains (140+) all over the town to break. This caused complete loss of pressure for everyone on the Jackson water system. Most of the pipes are still cast iron and some are over 100 years old. The water is now back on in most of the city, but they are under a boil water notice, which will last for several more days. Those of us who live in the outlying suburbs are lucky to have our own water supplies and have not lost pressure.
Dano Posted January 17, 2010 #4 Posted January 17, 2010 Gotta love living in the country on a well with a back-up generator!
LilBeaver Posted January 17, 2010 #5 Posted January 17, 2010 Yes sir. Same here. Except I got home from being gone for about 3 weeks to find that I had a broken line... yee-haw. Good luck with yours!!
barend Posted January 17, 2010 Author #6 Posted January 17, 2010 Found it, turns out it was in the same place I fixed last time so now I know why things went kaplouie then as well. I've had a area where the yard was settling, I'm surmising the settling caused the lines to drop as well and literally pull the couplings apart. :bang head: The bad thing is that it also blew out the sewage line coupling and since some idiot (not me) placed the water and sewer line in the same trench, when the water line went it shot pretty much straight in the sewer line, hence no river in the yard. Oh well, it's fixed:sun: Looks like the yard is not done "settling" I found a hole big enough to bury three or four incompetent politicians! Would have to have been one hell of a tree if that's what caused it. Retaining wall is going to bite the dust on this I think, good thing I know the guy who built it:cool10: Brenda's on a mission now to find out who signed of on this :stirthepot:
phill12 Posted January 17, 2010 #7 Posted January 17, 2010 Had the same thing Friday! Plumers coming Tuesday to change all the pipes under this house. $1700 but it is going to be worth every penny not to have to crawl under, in the mud again. I have been under there 5 times since June!!
