It is BIG and comfortable. Some whine about the whine from the straight cut gears (some are loud some not). Some have problems with the ignition switch, rear shock, or other minor problems. EVERY bike has its quirks I like my RSV but I also like my Virago and Chopper so try it; if you like it buy it if not keep shopping. Rod

After 4000 miles on my 07, my only complaints ate the the stock windshield sucks in the rain and the stock front tire is noisy.

Cassette deck in this day and age! Was a great idea in the early 80's not so much now.

Bear at slow speeds.....fixable.

Love mine. I have both right now a 1st gen and a 2nd gen. Differant beasts for sure but they do have the same heart.

As far as the cassette, I like it, I finally get to listen to all my old cassettes :rotf:. I have not owned a cassette in my home since the early 90s. Besides, the bike has a AUX jack to plug in an MP3 or XM radio. For Yamaha to switch to a CD would still be out of date.

Everyone keeps saying to add the leveling links, and put on a narrower front tire, but personally I have no problem with the slow speed handling.. I keep 4 lbs air in the forks, and 30 to 40 lbs air in the shock, and make sure my tires are at the right pressure. It just doesn't bother me. And this is only the second street bike I've ever owned that wasn't a sport bike (my other one was my very first street bike, a 76 Yamaha XS650) and the first bike I've ever owned that was over 450lbs, and it is way over.

It's exactly the same as the 99,00,01,02,03,04,05 and 06, which makes it just as top heavy :whistling:........ got any other hard questions?:buttkick:just my :2cents: worth. :rotf::rotf::rotf:

Wow, I can't believe all these problems! I've got over 10,000 miles on my 06 and had zero problems.........Think I'll go buy some lotto tickets!!!:cool10:

70,000 miles - only problems are what have already been mentioned. Had to replace ignition switch under warranty and rear shock. Otherwise - no problems. Great ride at highway speeds - handles pretty well in twisties as well. Slow speed maneuvers require some care - top heavy - but if you have been riding KZ1000 Police model - no problems with the Venture.

Oh - and would like a little more capacity in gas tank - but can live with it.

Great bike overall.

I have an 06 with 12,000 miles on it and have had 0 problems so far. When it got about 4 to 5K miles on it, it started to have more power. When you get rid of the cheap stock tires it will handle much better. I went with AVON tires and love them, I also did the leveling links and it made it handle even better. I like the RSV and will probably keep it until someone comes out with something I like better that don't have so much plastic on it. The Goldwing is a heck of a machine but has more plastic than the Tupperware lady. Don't forget the 5 year warrenty!
