Didn't think Paul would be a pro helmet guy.

I would love to see Paul Tuttle and David Letterman do the old Abbot and Costello Bit,

"Who's On First"! I think it would be a riot. Paul Sr. is as blunt as a hammer head! Reminds me of my Dad.

On a personal note, I live in a state (Pa.) where riders get to choose to wear a helmet or not. As many of you know, I ride my bike to the limits that it will perform....regularly. I count on my equipment to function the way it should, and if it doesn't, I count on my helmet to do it's job. I always wear a helmet, and it has saved my life more than once. I still think as adults we should be able to make that decision for ourselves, after all, we get to choose weather or not we will ride a motorcycle! (just between you and me, I don't even like it when Jean tells me what shirt to wear!)

My thoughts, for what they are worth,

Maybe he DOES ride then!!!

FULL_FACE all the time!!!

Yes he does ride! I see him out every now an then and have gone out on rids with him when he hosts car shows at there new place, he's only 25mils away from my house.

It's probably why big-tom wants me to hold the next eastern-NY meat-n-eat ride.

I believe that wearing a helmet or not is personal choice. That being said, If you head hits the ground and you don't have a helmet on, YOU cover the repair. Not medicare, medicaid or insurance. I see no reason for me to pay for your repair.

That reasoning could be taken one step farther. Riding motorcycles are dangerous so if you choose to ride one and are injured should you should face the consequences yourself also? There was a case here in Ohio where a judge thought the same way. A motorist caused an accident where a motorcyclist was killed and the judge just gave a small fine stating that if the motorcyclist had been in a car he wouldn't have been killed so he was responsible for his own death.

What I don't understand in my car I face a fine If I do not put a seat belt on which sometimes I neglect to do with all the steel around me, but yet the same state allows you to get on a bike and make the choice weather or not you want to protect yourself from harm it just dosnt make sense to me.:confused24:

Helmet laws and seat belt laws should be a personal choice.

Also, insurance should also offer policies that have separate rates depending on your choice.

Policy A. The insured agrees to use a helmet/seat belt, in doing so rates will be $200/year. If the insured is involved in an incident and is not using the helmet/seat belt, property damages will be covered up to the policy's limits, but medical expenses will not be covered.

Policy B. The insured choices to not use helmet/seat belt, in doing so rates will be $600/year. If the insured is involved in an incident, property and medical coverage will be provided up to the policy's limits.

Simple as that, let people decide what they wish to do instead of mandating it.

Some States have special insurance requirements to ride without a helmet. http://www.iihs.org/laws/HelmetUseCurrent.aspx

In Michigan there is an ongoing push to make it the riders choice, but the State wants the rider to have a special insurance policy to ride without a helmet.

Are you sure you worded that right? Protect yourself with seat belt/helmet and NOT have medical coverage??? I think you got that part of your descriptions backwards.

Now I feel silly...:bang head:
