If you are looking for an insurance horror story, this ain't it. Last Thursday I totaled my '04 Midnight RSV. Late Thursday I called in the claim. They promised to have someone call me back within 2 hours, they did. That person told me that an adujster would get with me the next day, Friday. Late Friday afternoon the adjuster, a really nice guy, came to my home to inspect the bike and prepare an estimate. He indicated at that time that it would probably be a total loss, it was. He called this morning to set up a time to come by and discuss the settlement this evening. I must say at that time I was expecting to have to negotiate a bit. I didn't.

I "settled" for $13,039 after my $500 deductible. Seemed very fair to me a 3 year old bike with 40,000+ miles.

The check is in the bank and I should have my new '07 black/blue RSV on the 15th.

The adjuster was very polite, courteous and dependable. He did what he promised on time. Only 5 days from crash to settlement with a weekend in the middle. So if anyone asks for an insurance recommendation from me, it's Progressive.

I am not surprised. I'm glad that it worked out real good for you.

I was hit by a guy with progressive some years back and they went out of their way to take care of me.

Now, I have my bikes insured with them.

Sorry about the bike but glad to hear about Progressive. I have had them for 5 years and never had to make a claim. Now I am glad I chose them.:2143:

I've got them on all my vehicles, including the bike and my quad (all of my fun toys (including an '02 YZ85 & '77 IT400) are Yamaha, by the way!), I tried to strike down a handicapped parking sign at Wallyworld one night, totaled the front end on my Durango, they straightened it up right away, at my choice of repair facility (6 mo's ago). Just got my bill in for the next 6 months, IT'S $400 CHEAPER! No drop in coverage, just a great company!

I've been with State Farm for everything, Cars, Trucks, Boats, MC, House forever and have been nothing but satisfied too. Its nice getting those Mutual Fund payout checks too:dancefool: When I wrecked my 05 they ended up paying more than I paid for it new and it had 20K miles. As an FYI anyone who has looked at SF before for MC insurance might want to check back again. They are becoming much more competitive in our growing market.

Your right...that's a great story and a great settlement price...I'm impressed with the speed of solution here and the very fair settlement price. Congratulations!

Be glad you weren't insured with the lizard. They would offer you a settlement and if you weren't satisified they would say "Go home and read your policy." I talked to someone that actually had that happen to them.

I also have State Farm for my home and cars. when I went to them to insure the 06 Venture they were asking $1200 a year and I am over 50 years of age. They did not have a motorcycle division and my agent recommened that I contact Geico. I got double the State minimum coverage, roadside assistance, $250 ded. and it is $279 a year!.....

As I am also insured by the "lizard". would sure be interested in getting some facts in this occurrence if you have them.

And actually, it's not a bad idea to read the policy once in a while. Some folks may not fully understand their coverage and may not have the coverage they think they have.

For example. How does your carrier define a "Fire". In some policies, there must be open flame. If that is the case, a shorted wire harness, which can run several hundred dollars to replace, may not be covered.

Also, what about all the extra equipment and chrome accessories you are adding to the bike? Are they covered, or do you need a rider to cover the aftermarket parts?

Do you have both uninsured and underinsured coverage? There is a major difference.

Just some food for thought..........
