Yesterday my bike was knocked off the centerstand. I've never had this happen before. I guess the contributing factor was the 6.5 earthquake that did it. A true act of God. It was a really hard shaker and the bike got the worst of it. Now I need a new windshield and trim.

Here is the footage I shot for ABC lastnight. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tM0vHbA2d_4]YouTube- Eureka Quake.mpg[/ame]

I had an XJ1100 I used to park on the centerstand, but the wind blew it over a couple times. After that, I always parked it on the side stand.

that is really sad... i hope insurance helps with that. in the meantime you might devise some type of outrigger to alleviate that problem in the future.

Just curios as to wich sid eit fell over on and how hard. If it hit the left side of the bike( stabding looking at the bike from the front left) and it fell over hard you might want to check the 90 degree plastic pipe from the water pump to the thermostate housing. Mine fell on this side and bent the crash rail in on it and cracked the pipe. At first check all lokked well until I cranked it and rode the bike. After she got warm I noticed quite a bit of coolant coming out in a stream. thats when I found the broke pipe.

Good luck and hope your faired better than mine.

Didn't feel that quake at all here in Sacramento, but I heard they did feel it up in Reno. The windshield and chrome strip can be found on Ebay and are fairly common, but that fairing is rarer that chicken lips. I know. I searched for well over a year before finding one in that color. Repair would be easier. From the looks of it, most of the fairing damage is in the black area, and even though a black paint won't match excately you'd have to get really close to tell the difference. If I can help in any way give me a shout.

My bad. I thought from the initial look at your bike it was a '90-'91. Those '86 fairings shoiw up a little more on the used market.

Let us know how the insurance plays out.

WOW! I live in Central California. Our newspaper had your earthquake story buried on page 8 or so. Nobody died, I guess....6.5 MAG. is a jolt. Front page devoted to another depressing economy story. I think most people wake up in pretty good moods until they open the morning rag and get daily dose of depression. Anyway, I wish you all the best.

Sorry, I still like speed and handling.:hurts:
