gershum Posted January 10, 2010 #1 Posted January 10, 2010 Does the venture 1300 have a vmax engine? need to settle a bet
Owen Posted January 10, 2010 #4 Posted January 10, 2010 The first gen vmax (1985 - 2007) motor was based on the first gen 1200 venture motor.
RandyR Posted January 10, 2010 #5 Posted January 10, 2010 its the same basic engine in the 1200 Vmax, just different carbs, cams, pistols, springs, gearing, etc.
Squeeze Posted January 10, 2010 #6 Posted January 10, 2010 The first gen vmax (1985 - 2007) motor was based on the first gen 1200 venture motor. ... and the MKII Engine(1300cc) is based on the Knowledge which came from the Vmax Motor. Like the Crank and the Con Rods, Bearings and Casting of the Casing.
Snarley Bill Posted January 10, 2010 #7 Posted January 10, 2010 the 1300 motor has a little more beef in the casting. it would be the block of choice to build a bigbore v-max motor. some folks have done this. i have seen a 1500 cc max with a holly 4 bbl. based on the 1300 block, also converted to chain drive, another common practice.

Id like to see this. How much can one bore one of these motors? Will the carbs be able to handle it or will you need something else?
Squeeze Posted January 10, 2010 #9 Posted January 10, 2010 1500 cc Big Bore is usually 85 mm Piston Diameter with wet Sleeves. A Buddy of mine built a Motor with 90 mm Pistons, but needed to built "Bridges" for the Water Jackets on the Outside of the Casing because even the Sleeves where outside the casted Parts of the Cylinder. Here are Pics from a Chain Drive Conversion ... http://www.schusters-bike.de/html/motorumbau.html http://www.schusters-bike.de/assets/images/Evel_Relikt_titel.jpg Here are the 90mm Pics in the pdf-file... http://www.venturerider.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=12864&d=1192637918
Yammer Dan Posted January 10, 2010 #10 Posted January 10, 2010 Squeeze I can look at that pic of the V-Max about 2 minutes and I have to go catch the Warden!! She says she is going to take computer away from me!!!
Owen Posted January 11, 2010 #11 Posted January 11, 2010 Wow... makes my old ragged out vmax look sad...
pegscraper Posted January 11, 2010 #12 Posted January 11, 2010 Wow, I'll bet the rim brakes on that bike (or whatever they're called) are some very serious stoppers! That whole bike looks absolutely wicked!
Squeeze Posted January 11, 2010 #13 Posted January 11, 2010 Well, that Max (called Evil Relikt) is quite a Thing. It's Mark's latest Creation and has been sold beginning last Year. You can surf the Website and see how he made it ... http://www.schusters-bike.de/html/evil_relikt.html The Brakes are coming off a Buell XB12, the Fork is from a Kawa ZX 12, the Rim itself is '85 Vmax, modified to 17 Inch and to take the 425mm Rotors. Rear Wheel is 12.5 Inch with a 360/30 Tire or so ... This Width is not my Cup of Tea, but i love the Look. This is a ridden Bike, not a Show Bike, Mark as well as the new Owner put several thousand Miles a Year on it. While you're staring at the Pics, look out for the Tank ... Mark isn't a Internet Type of Guy, so he has not so much Text in there, but each Button on the left leads to some real impressive Pics of his Work and Art... He's very creative and i truely admire his Style and Imagination as much as his mechnical Skills. The Engine Jobs mentioned above are from another Guy, though.
Bummer Posted January 11, 2010 #14 Posted January 11, 2010 Hey Squeeze, About that web site: Wow. No, really. Wow. I'm just... Wow.
