Midrsv Posted January 9, 2010 #1 Posted January 9, 2010 I just placed a new event on the VR calendar. After the success of last year's Central KY VR weekend Valerie and I would like to host the event again this year. I know we had a great time last year and met some new friends and we hope to do it again this year. I expect we'll follow a similar format and meet for dinner on Friday evening followed by rides on Saturday and Sunday. And depending on departure schedules we may be able to do something on Monday. Once we get an idea on the number of people coming I'll see what I can do about a group rate at one of the hotels. Here are a couple of links to discussions about last year's weekend and a few photos: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=32094&highlight=central+weekend http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=36100&highlight=central+weekend We look forward to seeing everyone in May. Dennis & Valerie
Leadwolf56 Posted January 9, 2010 #2 Posted January 9, 2010 For anyone considering this let me tell you it was a GREAT time! Dennis and Valerie are great hosts. All of the Kentucky riders we met were very nice folks. Sue and I are planning on doing this one again.
Midrsv Posted March 1, 2010 Author #3 Posted March 1, 2010 I've started thinking about the planning for the Memorial weekend gathering in Central KY and I would like to make a couple of hotel suggestions. This year it may be better for people to stay in south Lexington. For a less expensive hotel I would suggest the Red Roof Inn near the intersection of US27 South and New Circle road. http://redroof.com/reservations/property-detail.aspx?pid=00184 The rates there seem to be around $60/night and for a little more upscale there is a Comfort Suite at Harrodsburg Rd and New Circle which I think I can get for around $95/night. For those arriving Friday Valerie and I would like to host a cookout at our place Friday evening. Nothing fancy, just burgers and hot dogs. I haven't planned the rides yet but we can find good riding in most any direction. I was thinking one day we could go southwest toward Gravel Switch and stop at Penn's Store, http://www.pennsstore.com/ And possibly from there on to Bardstown. I'm sure we can plan a couple of good days of riding. I can't wait for this lousy weather to break and get us into spring. Especially Memorial weekend. Hope we get a good turnout. Dennis

Dennis ME2 ME2 ME2 ME2....... Absolutely drooling in anticipation!!! Hey, Dennis....do you know if the Red Roof's high speed internet service is included in the room charge or is it an additional daily charge. I've been stung by one of those before in St. Louis.... Joe
Midrsv Posted March 1, 2010 Author #5 Posted March 1, 2010 Joe, I just called the Red Roof Inn and effective today their high speed internet is free. What a coincident. I set up a block of 15 rooms that they are holding until April 28th. If you want to reserve a room out of that block the rate is $58.49. When you contact them tell them you are with the B184RIDERS group. I've not been to the hotel so I can't vouch for it but they advertise that it was recently remodeled. Here is the contact info. Red Roof Inn 2651 Wilhite Drive Lexington, KY 40503 (859) 277-9400 Dennis
FreezyRider Posted March 1, 2010 #6 Posted March 1, 2010 Thanks, Dennis. I'll be reserving a significant percentage of those rooms (probably 6) as soon as I get final verification from a couple people. Joe

Wow, they must be anticipating a large gathering of people in Lexington for Memorial Day, huh? Last year our attendance was cut short by a family crisis, hopefully this year will present nothing of the sort. by the way, that BBQ joint we ate at on Friday last year, closed within 3 weeks of our visit. Must've eat them out of the years projected sales?
jer878 Posted May 13, 2010 #13 Posted May 13, 2010 Hey Midrsv, Just made reservations @ Confort Inn, 2381 Buena Vista Dr., Lexington, KY. The one you mentioned is booked. Bummer Posted May 13, 2010 #14 Posted May 13, 2010 Irene and I are booked into the Homewood Suites, diagonally across the exchange. All of about 1.4 miles. Funny, only looks like an inch or so on the map... We'll see you guys there, end of the world (as we know it) permitting.
etohio Posted May 15, 2010 #15 Posted May 15, 2010 Made my reservation at Red Roof for Saturday night (they gave me the $58.49 rate) and will be coming down early Saturday morning. I will be coming down 68 out of Maysville and looks like it should be about 2 or 3 hours. For me this will be the longest ride I have ever done. I just got the bike running and have made some small runs around here with no problems yet. Hope to meet all of you. Ed
Midrsv Posted May 15, 2010 Author #16 Posted May 15, 2010 Ed, if you're coming in Saturday morning you'll need to get here early or you'll probably miss us. We'll probably meet somewhere for breakfast around 8:00 and then be off on a day ride by 9:30 or so. From Maysville to Lexington is probably around 67 miles and should take you about an hour and 15 minutes. I'll try to get a more detailed agenda posted later this week. Looking forward to meeting you. Dennis
Midrsv Posted May 15, 2010 Author #17 Posted May 15, 2010 I would like to ask everyone coming in Friday and that will be joining us for dinner to please update your status on the calendar for the 28th and indicate how many guests with you. We're planning for food and I would like to get a fairly close count. Right now I think we have 11 people listed and I think there will be more than that. The agenda will look something like this: Friday afternoon folks arrive. I'll meet everyone at the Red Roof Inn and lead you back to our place for dinner (nothing fancy). On Saturday morning we meet everyone at the Red Roof and travel a few blocks for breakfast (it will beat the freebie you get at the hotel). From there we'll take off on a day ride through central Ky and the horse farm area. Probably similar to last year. We'll finish the day in Midway at Darlin' Jean's for dinner like last year. On Sunday breakfast is on your own and we'll probably take off on a ride (destination yet to be determined) until Sun afternoon. After a little rest we'll head out to a local restaurant for dinner. Monday most will depart and if anyone sticks around we'll find something to do. If we need to make adjustments we can. Valerie and I are looking forward to the weekend. Hope you are too! Dennis & Valerie
davecb Posted May 17, 2010 #18 Posted May 17, 2010 Got my reservation...But you gotta guarentee a beautiful weekend with sunshine and 80 degree weather.... Looking forward to meeting all of you... Please....NO RAIN.......
