I will be putting Avon tires on next week. However, the guy at the shop that I spoke to about ordering and mounting them seemed concerned about the difference in size of the mt90 verses the original front as far as how they would fit the rim.He seemed to think because of the difference there would be too much pressure where it sealed on the rim.Has anyone had any problems with the mt90?

My tire guy gave me a hard time about the size too. He finally did install it after I signed a waver.

You need to try this for yourself but I'm not overly impressed with the high speed handling of this tire and think I'll be going back to the stock size next time. Slow speed handling is very good, like everyone said.

Thanks for the input.Since I don't have a problem with the slow speed handling of the original size tires & do a lot of fairly long trips & mountain riding,I will probably keep the original size. Thanks again.

I've had the narrow Avon for 16000 miles. It fit the rim fine, and the rim size on our bikes is within Avon's own specs for the tire. That said I'll probably go to the stock size when I change this one because I have the leveling links and think the handling will be fine with the stock size Avon. The stock size Avon is narrower by about 1/2 inch than the Bridgestone stock size tire. That alone will give some improvement in handling.

Huh-uh.... not me. I'm not going back to stock ever. My Avons transformed the RSV into an enjoyable ride. I can now ride the twisties with confidence where with stock, holding my chosen line through a curve was a chore. Go Avon!:080402gudl_prv:

I am wondering if you also have the leveling links on your bike. If you don't I would agree with you to keep the narrower size Avon. I know it made a big difference for me when I put it on my bike. Since then I have also installed the leveling links. I really like the way my bike handles in the curves, and have no issues with the freeway handling either. But other gurus (that I respect) on this site maintain that a person should use the narrower tire or the leveling links, but not both. I thought I would give their advice a try with this next tire change.

My mechanic liked the MT90 choice, said it would be his choice too. The rim size is correct for the MT90 so that is not a problem. Doesn't make sense to have you sign a waiver, all they have to do is look at the fitment guide for the rim size. I've been very happy with the performance.

I couldn't wait to dump the noisy Brickstones, including the fat front tire, for the Avons. I know it's personal preference to a degree, but I have a lot of confidence in them. If anyone needs a stock front Bridgestone tire with only 600 miles, justo shoot me an email and we'll see what we can do.
