Freebird Posted January 2, 2010 #1 Posted January 2, 2010 Webbikeworld just did a review on the Garmin 660. Though I like the widescreen, I would not consider this an upgrade from my Zumo 550 simply because it does not have the XM radio capability. I'll just stick with what I have thank you very much. For those who don't care about the XM though, it seems to be a pretty good unit. http://www.webbikeworld.com/garmin-gps/garmin-zumo-660-review/
Marcarl Posted January 2, 2010 #2 Posted January 2, 2010 I have a 660 and after getting used to it, I am quite happy with it. I bought it through a glitch through a friend of mine and so paid more than I would have wanted to. It was still $100 cheaper than buying it on line, but more than I had wanted to spend. I don't use the bluetooth, but it does work just fine, what I do miss is the FM transmitter, that would have been a handie thing to leave in the programing. I upgraded from a Xog, made by Lowrance, a nice unit but you can't read it in the sun, bright or not. Woulld I buy one again? I guess I would, but only if it gave me the features that I wanted and didn't have right now. In other words, if you have a 450, or a 550, and you aren't looking for the missing features, stick with what you have. PS, I don't have any locking up issues, it boots fast, recalulates fast, redraws fast (it has to, because I often make the 'wrong' turns) and can be easily read in bright sunlight. PS It comes with all the needed hardware and it's easy to mount and dismount. It also reads whether or not it's on the scoot or not. Handie that!!!!!
Cougar Posted January 2, 2010 #3 Posted January 2, 2010 Umm, thanks for the post Don, thinking I will wait one more year maybe.. not sure If I want one yet or not. the 550 really has rocked for me! Jeff EDIT.... Don, shame on:no-no-no::no-no-no: you for not putting this in the GPS Section!
BOO Posted January 2, 2010 #4 Posted January 2, 2010 I have one of the cheaper Garmins because I am cheap and I don't usually buy things that function as two or three different tools. Maybe it's because the garmin I have is cheap but it sure "recalculates" slow and the detail is much less than a real cheap unit I've had for several years. I like the larger screen but that's about it. .02 BOO
Hummingbird Posted January 2, 2010 #5 Posted January 2, 2010 I have the 550 and would really miss the XM radio. Actually, I would consider the 660 downsizing form the 550.
