First off, Happy New Years everyone! Hope to get a chance to ride more this year with ya!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Been having an issue since Biketoberfest with slow leaks in both tires. Running Avon Venoms, maybe 8k on them. tires seem to be in ok shape and have bunches of tread on them. I'd like to think they have plenty of miles left. Went down, filled both to specs and sprayed some soapy water on them. Both of them are leaking badly on both sides of the rims???????????????? I've removed both and hope to get them to the stealer tomorrow to have them busted down and hopefuly resealed. Is this wishful thinking or do I need new tires or worse new rims?????????????????????????? :crying:

While they have the tires off have them check for rubber build up on the inside edge of the rim. if they are clean then the soapy sealent they use should take care of them.

I had that same issue with my front tire with the venoms. If you are using Ride-On sealent there may be some build-up on the sides of the rim, or the rim is just getting corroded. Best bet is to remove the tire and clean up the inside of the rim. I used a scotch brite type of wheel to clean it up. When the shop installed the tire I had them seal the bead area with a sealing compound. Solved my problem...

Some shops wont use it so you may have to search around. It doesnt do any damage and it just seems to be the shops preference whether to use it or not. Might want to change out those tire valves while your at it. I angled my rear one to face the right side of the bike and added an angled one up front as well..angled right too.

Tire leaks are caused due to a loose nut between seat and handle bars...:stickpoke::rasberry:

Pick,

I wish you, your lovely wife and family a very Happy new year and I look forward to riding with you again sometime this coming year..

As already mentioned, I'm sure there is a build up of something on the sides of the rim...

a wire brush and some elbow grease and you will be full of hot air again..:thumbsup2:

They busted the tires down, wired brushed the inner rims and reinstalled and sealed the tires(also installed a 90 degree metal valve stem up front) and they are holding. Gonna put them back on tomorrow and if this freeze ever lets loose of the south, hopefully willl get some road time here soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!
