I'm thinking hard??

This Auction does have a "Best Offer" feature.

If you are interested, then make an offer. $8000.00 would be a steal but $9500.00 would be closer to actual worth. After all, it is Frickin' December! I'm SURE no one is knocking the doors down to buy it.:confused24:

Just my thoughts,

Earl

Suggested Retail Value $7590 The Kelley Blue Book Suggested Retail Value is representative of dealers' asking prices and is the starting point for negotiation between a consumer and a dealer. This Suggested Retail Value assumes that the unit has been fully reconditioned and is in excellent condition. Mileage/condition and additional equipment may have a substantial impact on the value shown above. This value also takes into account the dealers' profit, costs for advertising, sales commissions and other costs of doing business. The final sale price will likely be less depending on the unit's actual condition, popularity, type of warranty offered and local market conditions.

They still command a high price as they were only made for 5 years. They have a cult following just like our Ventures and the guys that have owned them, for the majority, love the bikes. I was actually wanting to test ride one as I have heard lots of good things about them. They are super fast for a touring bike and will give any of the Ventures a good run. His price is only high due to it being winter, that bike would go for right at that amount during riding season. I watches several earlier in the year go for that price

For what he's asking, you could find a very low mileage '08 RSV that still has warranty until 2013!

I also love the looks of the Valk Interstate, and have drooled over the Blue/Silver or Green/Silver for years. But, after riding the Venture, I know that I wouldn't be happy with the comfort level on the Valk. I read a while back that someone here on this site had a Valk previously, then bought an RSV. After a few years he got the hankering for a Valk again, went and rode one and walked away saying "What was I thinking?"......just couldn't compare with the smoothness and comfort of the RSV.

The one on ebay has no factory cruise control (throttle locks just don't get it for me) or CB. I gotta have both. Yeah, it has a 6 CD changer....and most people on this site criticize the RSV for having that feature due to skipping and the amount of storage space it consumes. On the Valk you don't have a place to plug in an MP3 player either unless I've missed something.

The Valk will walk away from an RSV, no doubt in my mind. My 1500 Gold Wing would run right with my RSV, and a Valk could leave my GW in the dust. My perception is that the Valk is only slightly behind the GL1800 Gold Wing in power and acceleration.

As I said, I love that Interstate....and wish they still made them. One of Honda's biggest mistakes was dropping that bike. If they offered a similarly style new model with the 1800 engine and upgraded electronics I'd be in trouble....would have some serious soul-searching to do!

Good luck with whatever you decide.

Joe

The valykrie interstate was only made for 2 years. The regular valykrie was made 5 years. The regular valykrie is like the tour deluxe and the interstate is like the venture. I was going to get a valykrie interstate when I bought my venture in 2005. At that time the interstates were bringing 10,500 to 13,000 on cycle trader. I got my venture for 15,500 with a 5 year warranty so I couldn't see paying 10,500 to 13,000 for a used valykrie. Last week I was on cycle trader looking for the latest prices on an interstate. There were only two listed in the US and they were asking $9,000 to 10,000. There were several regular valkyries in the $7,000 range. I was looking at the values of an interstate because my brother in law has a 99 interstate in mint condition that he is considering selling. The price of the one on ebay is a little on the high side but it does look like it is in mint condition.

If you're going to make an offer, take little bites. $100 bucks a crack. He may have a reserve of less than $8500..... No sense in tossing more at it than needed... I'm in agreement with others who've posted. For that kind of money the RSV midnight is a better bang for the buck...

Actually, the Valk Interstate was made for at least 3 years, 1999, 2000, and 2001. I have seen all three of these model years, and that beautiful Blue/Silver model that I so covet was made in 2001. Here is an interesting head to head comparison of the 99 RSV and 99 Valk Interstate:

EDIT: Oops....the Blue/Silver is a 2000 model, not 2001. In 2001 there was a black & silver as well as a black & red color scheme.

I considered the Interstate when I bought my '99 RSV. In fact, I stopped and test rode one on the way to the Yamaha dealer. I had ridden one before and really liked it but loved the styling of the RSV. I had to give it one more test ride though just to be sure. I loved the power and smoothness of the engine but the RSV was just more comfortable for me and also had the CB and intercom system which was missing on the Valk. I've never regretted my decision. They are a great looking bike though.

Nice looking bike. I don't understand Ebays rating system. The guy has over 200 feedbacks with only 1 unfavorable and yet he is rated at 97%. Seems like that should be 99.7%.

The ratings only take into account the feedback in the last 12 months.

He has had 34 positive & 1 negative in last 12 months.

34 positives divided by 35 total feedback ratings.

34/35 = .97

After 12 months you have to look back through the feedback rating sheets to find other negatives or neutrals.
