Yama Mama Posted December 30, 2009 #1 Posted December 30, 2009 This New Year Marks the beginning of not only a new year, but the beginning of a new decade. Besides all of us being 10 years older, what was your greatest memory during the last 10 years? I would have to say the birth of our Granddaughter Ella. There are many other good memories too. What are yours? Yama Mama:beer:Happy New Decade!
BoomerCPO Posted December 30, 2009 #3 Posted December 30, 2009 Too many good memories to list really.....and none of em are Rated G. Boomer....who's known to be a hard rider in more than just one aspect.
massey130 Posted December 30, 2009 #4 Posted December 30, 2009 we have blessings and challenges. while the blessings are wonderful, the challenges seem to have a different type of lasting-ness to their memory. we are currently in a challenge state of affairs. one reason for us being here is a the blessing of our RSV and consequently joining this site. we put our desire for a touring motorcycle in the hands of the Lord a couple of years ago and just forgot about it. the deal we got just fell in our lap, bloop - here ya go - and the deal we got with how we were able to arrange it were just great.
Skid Posted December 30, 2009 #6 Posted December 30, 2009 This website....no lie. Very well put. Of coarse, I had two of my three children born this last decade as well as I met and married the best thing thing of all, my wife Leslie. Also without this website I wouldn't have met all these extra friends..........
mini-muffin Posted December 30, 2009 #7 Posted December 30, 2009 I'd definitely go with Squid this site. I was already married, already had a kid, and no grandkids. So that leaves all of you. Margaret
mraf Posted December 30, 2009 #8 Posted December 30, 2009 The end of 2009 is a good thing. Good riddance. This has been a miserable year altogether. Bad weather, could not take trip west because of family problems, worst crop ever, father in law passing the list could go on and on. Here's hoping 2010 will be better. Looking back on the last ten though for things good. My son coming home from the sand box and becoming a Drill instructor at Ft. Leonardwood. I would have to also say the births of my 4 grandchildren. No matter how bad life can get they never cease to put a smile on my face.
Aussie Annie Posted December 30, 2009 #9 Posted December 30, 2009 Still being with my wonderful husband (I survived bad accident) Five of our six grandchildren were born in that time frame My job working with interlectually challenged adults (until accident) Some great riding holidays with Quickstep AND........... This amazing bunch of folks' called VentureRider.org!!!!!! Can't express in words what you all mean to me :bighug:
OutlawRider Posted December 30, 2009 #10 Posted December 30, 2009 I would have to say, the birth of our four Grandkids and three more our one son and wife are trying to adopt. I also joined this sight a year ago. Though sitting in the back ground oppserving. I have learned alot on the VSR and the great people who ride them and belong to this sight. I am glad my friend told me about this sight.:clap2:
SilvrT Posted December 30, 2009 #11 Posted December 30, 2009 There were 3 very significant things that took place in my life during this decade (2000-2010). The separation and divorce from my now ex-wife of 28yrs. The reunion with my son whom I had not seen for 31 years (he was 1.5 yrs when I'd last seen him). Re-connecting with my son was the greatest and we are very close. The breakup of my life with my ex was a very difficult time and it was shortly after that, that I connected with my son. My ex and I are still friends and we stay in contact with each other. Finally, meeting and marrying Nina almost 5 years ago. I can't imagine anything that could top any of these events in the coming decade.
Sleeperhawk Posted December 30, 2009 #12 Posted December 30, 2009 1. Met Mechanic and married her, she got the wrong end of that deal 2. Bought a motorcycle, first one in 30 years, happened to be the RSV 3. Finding this website 4. and finally, and certainly not the least, having close friends met through this website, which to me, has never happened before. I think Mechanic has something do with it and her pies.

BoomerCPO Posted December 30, 2009 #14 Posted December 30, 2009 I think Mechanic has something do with it and her pies. What kinda pies? Do ya lease her out for any period of time for pie making? Boomer....who's always on the hunt fer good pies.
Sleeperhawk Posted December 30, 2009 #15 Posted December 30, 2009 What kinda pies? Do ya lease her out for any period of time for pie making? Boomer....who's always on the hunt fer good pies. All you have to do, is come down for a SC M&E and taste for yourself
BoomerCPO Posted December 30, 2009 #16 Posted December 30, 2009 All you have to do, is come down for a SC M&E and taste for yourself Oh sure...Don't make it easy for me...I'm surrounded by snow, ice, teeth-chattering whining Liberals, starving dogs, illegal aliens, and CLOSED Dairy Queens. Boomer.....Who figgers FedEx is outta the question for getting any pies as well.
DarkMeister Posted December 30, 2009 #17 Posted December 30, 2009 (cough-cough) Since nobody wants to say it: Hate to break it to you folks, but the decade ends at the end of next year... New decade begins January 1, 2011

oldgoat Posted December 30, 2009 #19 Posted December 30, 2009 i have to go with squid . there is a brother and sister hood here. i allways say if i cant fix it someone will tell me there best way to do it. if i break it. they wont let me forget it. but still will tell me how to fix it. and if i break it again they tell me take it to the dealer give them the title because you shouldnt be on it:nanner:
Yama Mama Posted December 30, 2009 Author #20 Posted December 30, 2009 I must have been in error, but I suppose we could still answer the question concerning the last 9 years then. It still is a long period of time to reflect upon. Or am I wrong again? hehehehe Yama Mama:bang head:
SilvrT Posted December 30, 2009 #21 Posted December 30, 2009 (cough-cough) Since nobody wants to say it: Hate to break it to you folks, but the decade ends at the end of next year... New decade begins January 1, 2011 theoretically you are right but for all intents and purposes, I'd prefer to think it starts Jan 1, 2010 because that's when it flips to the next "10" That's similar to saying I'm 60 when I'm in my 59th year ... ain't no way I gonna make myself older unless I get a discount for it LOL
GlennTuc Posted December 30, 2009 #22 Posted December 30, 2009 (cough-cough) Since nobody wants to say it: Hate to break it to you folks, but the decade ends at the end of next year... New decade begins January 1, 2011 Not So. New decade begins 1 Jan 2010. You've got to count the year 2000. Happenings this past decade: #1 - Divorce from my wife of 21 years in 2001. Wasn't sure I was going to make it through that. #2 - Marriage to my new wife in 2003. I survived. #3 - So many of God's Blessings, I don't know where to start. Home, vehicles, job, grandkids, friends, good health. Glenn
DarkMeister Posted December 30, 2009 #23 Posted December 30, 2009 Meh. The decade stuff is all over the place, on-line, in the papers. So gopher it and enjoy reflecting. On a grander scale, there was all that 'new century' stuff...a decade ago. A year early, but people just chose to accept it as the date and enjoy the big benchmark in time. The only thing that bugs me about time....is that these days a decade seems like a year, at best. Must be the getting old thing. Tempus fugit so darned fast!

The year 2000 (Y2K) was significant not because people thought of it as the beginning of a "new century" but rather, it's implications and impact on computer systems and software that were not adjusted. A big part of that also had to do with leap year calculations.
KarlS Posted December 31, 2009 #25 Posted December 31, 2009 Summer of 06 took a 23 state motorcycle trip to west coast and back. OR This past summer when my Daughter rode with me to the Hub and then to the Dragon. First but not last Father Daughter long ride. She liked it so much She keeps asking when the next rally is. That trip was so special I think it's number 1.
