ken Posted December 28, 2009 #1 Posted December 28, 2009 I used the search option and can't seen to find a poll on how many have the "whine" vs how many do not. I found a poll ref: to how many have fixed the problem, but no one that would give an average on how many bike have the problem. If anyone knows of a poll could you post a link.
BoomerCPO Posted December 29, 2009 #2 Posted December 29, 2009 I have the "whine"....I wake up to it ever blessed day....but it fades out when she goes to work. Boomer.....checking to see if the Warden heard me type that.
Renne Posted December 29, 2009 #3 Posted December 29, 2009 I replaced my stock muffs with HD/FLT's, The "WHINE" disappeared,,,or I just can't hear her anymore...............OH OH!!!!! She saw this! YIKES! (it's gonna be a L-O-N-G winter) Renne
OutlawRider Posted December 29, 2009 #4 Posted December 29, 2009 I have the whine. Did not know there was a for sure fix.
starrider60 Posted December 29, 2009 #5 Posted December 29, 2009 NO WHINE AND NO CHEESE. 31,000 MILES AND I LOVE THE WAY IT RUNS & SOUNDS. IF YOU WANT REAL MOTORCYCLE NOISE, RIDE AN AIR COOLED BIKE WITH STOCK MUFFLERS. SOUNDS LIKE YOU'RE GRINDING HAMBURGER.
TEW47 Posted December 29, 2009 #6 Posted December 29, 2009 I still have the whine even after I had the clutch basket changed out to the "I". tew47
BoomerCPO Posted December 29, 2009 #8 Posted December 29, 2009 - LOL! That's all I should have posted in the fust place..... Boomer....hunting for the ice bag now to ease the pain.
MiCarl Posted December 29, 2009 #9 Posted December 29, 2009 I believe that all Ventures (MKI, MKII, 2nd Gen) and most Yamahas fall into one of the following categories: 1 - Rider can hear gear whine. 2 - Rider cannot hear gear whine because of deafness, loud pipes, MP3 player, passenger whine etc.... Straight cut (spur) gears are always noisy. That's why helical gears were invented.
Aussie Annie Posted December 29, 2009 #10 Posted December 29, 2009 I have the "whine"....I wake up to it ever blessed day....but it fades out when she goes to work. Boomer.....checking to see if the Warden heard me type that. :rotf::rotf::rotf: Annie......... Who thinks Boomer is a brave man

Scooter Bob Posted December 29, 2009 #12 Posted December 29, 2009 I rode HD's for 18 years b4 the RSV, so mine has always been nice and quiet. sorry, couldn't resist:stirthepot: Later, Scooter Bob
ken Posted December 29, 2009 Author #13 Posted December 29, 2009 I had an 05 that I put 8,000 miles on the 1st year with no whine or chirp. Then I brought an HD and sold the RSV. Now I'm "whine" wishing I had kept the RSV. I will most likly get a used RSV next, so I was wondering what the chances are of finding one with out the whine.
Nemo Posted December 29, 2009 #14 Posted December 29, 2009 I realize that I'm a little hard of hearing, but I've never heard any whine coming from this bike. The only noise that I hear that is different for me, is a clicking noise from the engine which reminds me of tappets clicking on my old Chevrolet, years ago. And I don't have loud pipes either. Must be the lucky one!
Aussie Annie Posted December 29, 2009 #15 Posted December 29, 2009 Awwwww... Bless yer little heart darlin..... Boomer.....who ranks them Aussie wimmen right up there at de top of the scale.....specially when they are buying the beer. :group cheers: AND.............
Yammer Dan Posted December 29, 2009 #16 Posted December 29, 2009 "UGLY" don't whine. She does tend to Growl and pant a little when she sees a 2nd Gen or a Hardley!!:snow2:
