Kirby Posted December 20, 2009 #1 Posted December 20, 2009 I was just thinking. (you say uh-oh)Since the standard on-off switch for the auxillary lights is so dinky, has anyone ever tried using the cruise control on-off switch under the cassette player to turn on and off any auxillary lighting you might have installed? You'd have to bypass the switch for the cruise, but I leave that switched on all the time anyway. It sure would be easier to reach than under the fairing by the aux outlet.
BuddyRich Posted December 21, 2009 #2 Posted December 21, 2009 That switch has to be cycled if you leave it on all the time and turn the bike off then back on. So you need to keep that switch functional or you won't be able to use the Cruise Control.
Kirby Posted December 21, 2009 Author #3 Posted December 21, 2009 Ok ,Thanks for the info. Since I don't always use the cruise control everytime I'm on the bike I hadn't noticed that before. I'm glad I learned something new today.
BOO Posted December 21, 2009 #4 Posted December 21, 2009 Some don't like the way I switch my running lights but here's what I do. I have rewired my kill switch and use it as the running light switch. I never use the kill switch anyway. Works good for me. There was a post recently with two switches on a mount that was just under the switch you are talking about and it looked great also. BOO
Bummer Posted December 21, 2009 #5 Posted December 21, 2009 I installed a 3 switch box that mounts on the clutch reservoir in place of the cover. It's supposed to go on the brake reservoir, but that already has a Baron's tach on there. The switch box I used is from Kuryakyn. Since I used it on the left I had to make a small plate to move the audio head about an inch away from the reservoir. Harder to explain than to do. If you decide to try this and need more details, holler.
KiteSquid Posted December 21, 2009 #6 Posted December 21, 2009 I normally try to keep the primary and Auxiliary blight switches in the off position.....
Kirby Posted December 21, 2009 Author #7 Posted December 21, 2009 I normally try to keep the primary and Auxiliary blight switches in the off position..... I knew someone was gonna catch that sooner or later!! I normally do a preview, this time I did'nt.
CMIKE Posted December 21, 2009 #8 Posted December 21, 2009 I guess my question would be..."Why turn them off at all?" Mine stays on all the time. I want to make sure I am seen and I think the more lights on front would help me be seen. AM I missing something?
Kirby Posted December 21, 2009 Author #9 Posted December 21, 2009 No CMIKE you're not missing anything. I was just trying to make better use of the cruise control switch, but as I found out, I've got to have it for the cruise control to work properly.
SilvrT Posted December 21, 2009 #10 Posted December 21, 2009 Here's what I did for aux light switches... [ame=http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showpost.php?p=418306&postcount=11]VentureRider.Org - View Single Post - Little Things for your bike...[/ame]
