Donde Posted December 16, 2009 #1 Posted December 16, 2009 Help, I'm self taught on computers, and I did not have a good teacher. ?How do I bookmark a page, and will that do what I think it will (let me quick and easily check latest on a thread I'm interested in)? I'll bookmark this page. Dave
dingy Posted December 16, 2009 #2 Posted December 16, 2009 You can bookmark in your browser. I am on Firefox and it is the first toolbar down. In Explorer its "Add to Favorites" Or you can right click in the page towards the top and get a menu that has "Bookmark this page." Explorer has the same right click feature "Add to favorites" Gary
Donde Posted December 16, 2009 Author #3 Posted December 16, 2009 Thank you I'll check that out. I'm using Google, and Internet Explorer on a HP with Vista. Q. 2. Should I dump Vista for W7? Q. 3. Should I dump Google, and Internet Explorer for Fire Fox or something else????
SilvrT Posted December 16, 2009 #4 Posted December 16, 2009 Thank you I'll check that out. I'm using Google, and Internet Explorer on a HP with Vista. Q. 2. Should I dump Vista for W7? Q. 3. Should I dump Google, and Internet Explorer for Fire Fox or something else???? I would definately go to W7 instead of Vista Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, FireFox, Opera, Maxthon .... they all have their respective "good and bad" ... personally I have been using Maxthon for appx 10 yrs. I've tested all the others and have not seen anything that entices me to change. This will probably become your own decision ~after~ you have tried some of them out.

hig4s Posted December 16, 2009 #6 Posted December 16, 2009 That Sir, is a whole nother can of worms I am still very happy with XP. At least as happy as one can be with microsoft. Firefox is very nice. Gary Well, let's see!! On my desktop I still have Windows 2000 pro, on my laptop I have XP, on the wife's desktop is Vista, and sitting on top of my wife's computer is the free upgrade disk for Windows 7 that came with the machine. Haven't gotten around to loading it yet. Anyway on all of them, I have both firefox and IE setup.. I find that most times I use firefox, but there are some sites that just work better with IE.

Squeeze Posted December 18, 2009 #9 Posted December 18, 2009 It is best, that when someone has nothing intelligent to say... that they say nothing ... (hmmmm... not sure if this was intelligent or not... maybe I should have said nothing... ) Now, that's a serious Cause of fishin' for Compliments ...

On this site, this is what I like to do. First I subscribe to the thread, using the drop down above the page: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2687/4194777993_fb45ceb909.jpg I usually choose instant email -- it sends me an alert when someone replies! http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4041/4194778091_6a755b930e_o.png When I visit here, I can go to my User CP... via the left margin: http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4040/4195535728_70a3ab2daa_o.png I can see right away if there is something new that I want to see! http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2706/4194778327_1641755f52_o.png If I click to see my subscriptions, it is like a handy set of bookmarks for this site. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2655/4194778371_8b0931cf5a.jpg Anyways, that's what I do. It might work for you too. Dave
Donde Posted December 18, 2009 Author #11 Posted December 18, 2009 Not to worry donde .... I'm self-taught too... and I became the teacher You must have had a better teacher and better student than I did, when I was self teaching myself.
