For what it is worth; On my bike I find that my low fuel light comes on and I have about 5-10 miles to go before I switch it to reserve. If I fill up right around when I switch to reserve, I do put in ~ 4.5 gals or so...
Thanks for the correction - that is the way most of these bikes are, but since I haven't taken mine off reserve in four years or so, I forgot!

Kent,

If you want me to, I can create a "read only" forum named FAQS that only you can post in. That way it won't get cluttered with responses and etc. and the answers will be easier to find.

No reason for a special forum for this yet - I already solved that problem by putting links to the new FAQs in the main post above (#2), and temporarily moving those to the tech library. When we get further down the road on this we can talk about where they should really be.

One other thought I had was to create a new locked sticky thread just for those FAQ links in the Watering Hole that would get the broadest notice from the newbies that most need to find the FAQs. The more I think about it, the better that sounds, and I could include a link to this thread for "FAQ Comments and Corrections."

I want to keep this thread active to keep asking folks for ideas and corrections to what I have already done.

My $.02 is..............with this wealth of information being so easy to find, and it looks to be a completre 2nd gen work over by the time its done, then it should be only available to members. Why would you put all this work into something and have it out there for anyone to find without even signing up as a trial member. As a NON LOGGED IN person I can read post, find post with hyperlinks and go to that link, BUT cannot search or post which I like.

To sum it up. If all the questions are in one spot they may have then why would they need to sign up??

I think this is a fine line between being here to help and shoving people off on their own to read as they see fit. My way of thinking is if I see something that I know has been covered time and timme again I simply can post a hyperlink to the previous discussion, OR just ignore the post and go on.

Either way it still need to only be available to members in my opinion.

Sorry about that - I just noticed a string of folks coming along with some general questions that I had thought I had remembered were already well written up by you in this FAQ. I had meant to add more of a note to it (because I had thought that I had recalled a more complete FAQ somewhere but I couldn't find it) but I got distracted...

Do I still have time to back away slowly? :duck:
