I'm hoping to reduce that some for her by replacing the w/s so I think I'll probably order the medium height Clearview. I don't mind looking thru it as most of the time we're not riding in crappy weather or at night. For those few times we do, I just "live with it" and sit up straighter, strech my neck and look over the top.

I almost have to stand up to see over my tall-wide clearview windscreen.. Around here we have a lot misting rain and if you don't like getting wet riding, you'll never get out riding.. But that type of rain doesn't blow off the windscreen, it sticks and makes it very difficult to see.. hence why I really don't ride with mine too much to be honest.. a little wind in the face to be able to see properly..

Mind you, my 2 inch windscreen is fun to ride with as well hehe

To find the right height windshield for you sit on your bike like driving it. Take a level line from the tip of your nose to the windshield and were that level line hits it is the right Height windsheild for you and only you. I did this with mine and cut it down about one inch and it works great for me. All you need it to just look over the windsheild.

Hope this helps.

I thought one of the key features of the Clearview shields was the "rebend" of the shield at the top to direct air up and around the rider better. They call it the "upper recurve". Im imaging cutting off the top affects that ?

I had that on mine, the main problem I had is that recurve was directly in my line of sight and it would hold moisture (fog or light rain). Very hard to see thru. I ended cutting my down to about 16". On a shorter windshield it may work well.

Yes. As noted when I started this question, I had a Clearview shield, their shortest one. I noticed that same problem. At the recurve, it was distorted. The Clearview folks were great about the return, offered me all sorts of help but since I wasnt willing to buy a taller one at the time and look through it, I passed. They suggested I buy a windshield edging from Saeng. I ordered it but its had little effect. Again, Saeng was great about the return, offered up a few suggestions but none were viable.

ANYWAY...... I think I'll try the Showchrome shield, buy it from J&P, they have a good return policy. Some here have given it a thumbs up for my type of prob but I suspect I'll need to go to a tall shield if I want to solve this one.... thxx all

That Clearview and the ShowChrome shield are the same height at 19.5". One is measured from the gas cap and the other length wise up the shield from the moulding.

At 5'11" I can't see over the Showchrome. Which according to their ad is 4" shorter than stock...I am looking right thru at the line.

As for the buffeting, on my initial ride here in the frozen west I used my regular helmet, a leather bound half helm, no buffeting.

But seeing the temps are still low I decided to wear my older 3/4 and the buffeting was quite a bit more.

Still trying to work out the personalizing bugs with this bike.
