Garmin Streetpilot 2730 & 2820

Says in the specs that it does not include Where Am I which allows you to find closest hospitals, police stations, gas stations, etc....

 

Can't believe something that cost so much back in the day you wouldn't be able to find a gas station if you needed to.

 

It might not be part of Where Am I, but I would think you could find a gas station.

 

Anyone with these models confirm the information?

The units that say they don't have the "where am I" feature can still find things that are near you. On the Garmin units, you just have to push "Find" and then "nearby points of interest" and/or you can trim your selection down from there, but it just isn't a 'shortcut key' to do that. It might be 1 or 2 'extra' keystrokes BUT you certainly can STILL find places that are close to you.

I have the 2730 and have no trouble finding things, even with non updated maps. I might find a vacant building:rasberry:, but all in all it does quite well and I LOVE the XM radio with it as well.
