SilvrT Posted December 1, 2009 #51 Posted December 1, 2009 I just came in from putting my bike away for the winter, and since 7 pm tonight there is about 4 inches of the white stuff on the ground. I had my last ride last Thursday, and it got to about 8c (low 40's f) , it was a nice day for a ride. ill repost the pics of the ice, the geese and the venture. http://picasaweb.google.ca/friesman1/Nov282009 I was wondering just for curiosity sake who was still riding and where they are living at. Brian SNOW???? ... ICE???? what's that??? :rasberry: Well let me answer your Q .... Firstly, you know where I live. Secondly, over the coming months (December, January, February, and March) while your scoot is stored away for the WINTER because you have FRIGID TEMPS, SNOW, and ICE ... guess what I will be doing... RIDING MY SCOOT :rasberry: (I knew my turn would come) All kidding aside tho ... you've been pretty lucky to get in as much riding as you did up to last Thursday. I doubt I will ride much over those month's coz we get very few nice enuf days on the weekend to ride but... for the most part ... it's generally SNOW & ICE FREE and the temps are almost always ABOVE ZERO.
yamadawg Posted December 1, 2009 #53 Posted December 1, 2009 Still riding here in East Tennessee. We rode the Dragon Sunday and logged around 200 miles. It was 65 degrees. No winterizing here, just a little winter gear and look for a sunny day. Many days are above freexing and with the sun out that is all we need. Too bad the job won't allow the bike for business travel or I'd be riding more...
Aimhigh Posted December 1, 2009 #54 Posted December 1, 2009 As Buddy Rich said...we are still riding here in Texas...sure do miss the opportunity to go snow skiing, though...like you guys get to do. Hang in there, winter will pass.
stroker ace Posted December 1, 2009 #55 Posted December 1, 2009 The wife and I knocked down around 300 miles here Saturday it was a little cool to start 28* but got up in the 60's on the way back.
starkruzen Posted December 1, 2009 #56 Posted December 1, 2009 Me...West Plam Beach, Florida. Still warm...78 today and sunny:big-grin-emoticon:
midnightventure Posted December 1, 2009 #57 Posted December 1, 2009 I rode 80 miles on the Dual Sport Friday and my wife and I rode the Venture 140 miles Saturday.
jburrell Posted December 2, 2009 #58 Posted December 2, 2009 No winter down here in Southeast Texas yet. We might get a day or 2 a year of JB
rjmalizia Posted December 2, 2009 #59 Posted December 2, 2009 well, i got in a whopping....10 miles the other night! Where in the heck did fall go and when is Spring going to arrive!
Godlover Posted December 2, 2009 #60 Posted December 2, 2009 I rode 60 miles today - Iowa riding on December 1st listening to Christmas music - does it get any better?
csogbk Posted December 2, 2009 #61 Posted December 2, 2009 Still commuting to work when its not pouring rain, beautiful ride today, lower 50's, home tonight after my shift should be in the lower 40s!
Wanderer Posted December 2, 2009 #62 Posted December 2, 2009 Who wouldn't be riding? Global warming has created a riding paradise in all of North America. Geez, don't you watch the news?
a1bummer Posted December 2, 2009 #63 Posted December 2, 2009 Here in Thorp, WI. it's getting harder to get out and ride. I rode a couple days last week though. I don't own any of those fancy heated clothes and accessories so this week it's been a wee bit nipply to ride comfortably for me. The latest I've been able to ride was a couple years ago on January 5th. The earliest I've been able to get out and ride was also a couple years ago on Easter weekend. That's when I rode through the cold, snow, sleet, and rain down to Diamond, MO. My Mom ended up in the hospital with heart problems and I needed to go see her.
Lone Eagle Posted December 2, 2009 #64 Posted December 2, 2009 Beautiful 65 - 70 degree weather out here
First_N_Last Posted December 2, 2009 #65 Posted December 2, 2009 I rode today in Richmond, VA. Fired up the 1998 V-Star & rode it to get milk. Whenever I have an excuse, its not raining & it is above 40F... I ride. Luckily there are always a few days in the winter months to ride in VA.
dynodon Posted December 2, 2009 #66 Posted December 2, 2009 up to 56 today in Central IL. took a nice hours ride to fill the bike up and also top off the wife's Shadow. (fun bike but I still like my VR better!). Sunny and not too windy.
Sunrayman Posted December 2, 2009 #67 Posted December 2, 2009 Well, I'm still riding, but the SALT will stop it the day it comes out. If I buy a cheap ticket, I can take my 1986 out of the warehouse in sunny Florida and get a few days in that way! Heh,heh, heh:rasberry: Meanwhile, I'll get the new grips, and highway pegs installed, and get the new tires and the carbs cleaned on the 1989 "trailer queen" so I can change it's name next season to the Sky Eagle or sumptin'... The Warthog (ugly but very seasoned and trustworthy) is my Florida ride. (1986 VR)
scotty Posted December 2, 2009 #68 Posted December 2, 2009 I get to ride all year:cool10: However, several months are confined to laps around the garage. Corners are sharp, never get out of low gear, scenery keeps repeating.
jarrejx Posted December 2, 2009 #69 Posted December 2, 2009 My version of winterizing is putting the bike upon the Carbon One Freestanding Lift Adapter with battery tender attached, until thermometer hits 45+ without precipitation. Last year salt on the road wasn't much of a concern in our area, as our city and nearby municipalities were too cash challenged to purchase salt. (Insurance card...don't leave home without it.) 52 degrees & sunny today, allowed for several hours of errand riding. Maybe a few more days before temps will allow my riding again, as it supposed to snow the next 2-3 days. Jerry
massey130 Posted December 2, 2009 #70 Posted December 2, 2009 I never winterize, i just use sta-bil in the gas with the battery tender hooked up. i start it up every week and let it run a bit, that way "white lightning" RSV is ready to roll when we get those few days of ride worthy day throughout the winter season.
phill12 Posted December 2, 2009 #71 Posted December 2, 2009 Cold and wet in Tulsa today. But we are planning on riding in a Toy Run Sat. The 5th & 13th Phill
