Scooter Bob Posted December 1, 2009 #27 Posted December 1, 2009 I put on over 1,000 miles in November(best Nov ever), and rode to work today on December 1st. Have a parade to ride in this Saturday. Then it will be hit and miss for the rest of the winter looking for roads with no snow, but it never gets "put away" Later, Scooter Bob
nyjerry Posted December 1, 2009 #29 Posted December 1, 2009 It snowed last night and the salt trucks where out. So that ends any riding for me, till spring and the salt is gone. Gotta love New York.
Chaharly Posted December 1, 2009 #30 Posted December 1, 2009 Got out the old Kawasaki KZ 650 last night after school. Had about an hour of light, so i rode around town till about 5. Upper fourties
Snarley Bill Posted December 1, 2009 #31 Posted December 1, 2009 i just rode home about a half hour ago. 34 degrees. winterizing ain't in my dictionary.
Ndiaz Posted December 1, 2009 #32 Posted December 1, 2009 I'm in central Maryland, where real winter doesn't usually start till January. This past Sunday temps reached the upper 60's, and yes, I went riding. Unfortunately, we've had so much rain lately, not much riding -- it's rain, not cold weather, that keeps our bikes idle around here. Riding to work this morning, watching out for deer... DragonRider Posted December 1, 2009 #33 Posted December 1, 2009 I ride to work every moring at 5:30 am, as long as it isnt raining...........And as long as the temps are above 20 degrees.................
Snaggletooth Posted December 1, 2009 #34 Posted December 1, 2009 I was out last Saturday for a day ride. High 40's (f) most the day. Didn't get home until 11 PM that night and it had dropped to the 30's. Weather here in Omaha has been mild for this time of year. We have had ice storms and severe snow storms in the past years as early as October. As long as the streets stay dry and none of the chemical spray they are using on the streets I'm keeping bike ready to ride as long as possible. It's looking like it's going to hit 55 today so I'm outta here. Mike
Dave77459 Posted December 1, 2009 #35 Posted December 1, 2009 I ride year round in Houston. Wish it weren't raining though. Dave
Evan Posted December 1, 2009 #36 Posted December 1, 2009 I still try to find an excuse to ride almost every day, even if is just to the store (or to visit Mother). Did an 800 km run a week ago in cool weather to look at another VR. Here in Toronto, our weather is somewhat moderated by Lake Ontario, although we normally start to get some snow in November. I am lucky to have heated underground parking so unlike most others in this area, I don't have to winterize and store my bike for the winter. Instead, I look foreword to those unusually warm days (above freezing) throughout the winter and go for a run if the roads are dry. Except for last winter, I have been able to ride at least once each month of the winter.
adventurer Posted December 1, 2009 #37 Posted December 1, 2009 I rode Sunday, 53*, 6" snow this morning, looks like riding is out for a while.
loehring Posted December 1, 2009 #38 Posted December 1, 2009 There is something to be said for living south of the Mason/Dixon. There were only 2 unridable days last year and hopefully none this year.
naturbar Posted December 1, 2009 #39 Posted December 1, 2009 i live in N.C. - wife & i got in around 500 miles after thanksgiving. temps in low 40's to high of 65. three perfect days of riding...does it get any better!?
Sideoftheroad Posted December 1, 2009 #40 Posted December 1, 2009 Still riding to work mostly. They are talking about snow later this week, so not sure how much longer before I put it up for the winter. Don't mind rain, but cold and rain, not my thing.
scooter45 Posted December 1, 2009 #41 Posted December 1, 2009 Hope to take it out after lunch should be around 48'
eagleeye Posted December 1, 2009 #42 Posted December 1, 2009 There is something to be said for living south of the Mason/Dixon. There were only 2 unridable days last year But-------how many good ice fishing days did you have???????? It's 41 now and sunny and I'm also taking a long lunch and going for a ride. Steve
silverdeer0454 Posted December 1, 2009 #44 Posted December 1, 2009 Went to Fred Meyer (part of the Kroger empire) and bought a pair of snow pants. I will ride anytime there is no white stuff on the ground. Today it should be 45F for a high and 32F when I get off work. Any calls from the PGR and I'll ride as well. We may have a mission(s) coming up in Tacoma for the 4 police officers who were murdered this week. Unless its heavy rain/snow...I'll ride. silverdeer
elmicko Posted December 1, 2009 #45 Posted December 1, 2009 I should still be riding, but I need to do some work to the old VR over the winter. So I put her down in the garage on Thanksgiving and started pulling the tupperware off.
friesman Posted December 1, 2009 Author #46 Posted December 1, 2009 If u all can ride as much as all that, I might hafta move south for the winters. Dont know about riding in some of the heat you ride in, but it sure would be nice not havin to winterize. Brian
wwhitehead Posted December 1, 2009 #47 Posted December 1, 2009 :snow2:Not me. I put her to bed at the end of October.
