jmmckenz Posted November 30, 2009 #1 Posted November 30, 2009 Hello everyone: This is my first post and I am sure that I am not doing this correctly so please bear with me. My basic question is this. Is there a good quality horn replacement out there, that does not require rewiring and will basically fit into the stock placements. My horn on the right side does not work and I would like to replace it but I do not want to deal with wiring and similar issues right now. Any help would be appreciated. - Thanks MM
BuddyRich Posted November 30, 2009 #2 Posted November 30, 2009 For a plug and play replacement you would want to use another OEM. They stink as far as level of sound. Many of us have put the Striebel Airhorn there. But you'll have to wire up a relay. If you still want the OEM I'm sure someone here has one they would be willing to get rid of. I don't know where mine is or I would offer it to you. Good Luck

atlm Posted November 30, 2009 #5 Posted November 30, 2009 I highly recommend the Stebel air horn. I put them on all my bikes now, since stock horns are completely ineffective. Carbon One (on this forum) makes an adapter for the 2nd gen Venture that works perfectly. It comes with the instructions to wire it. The horn comes with everything else you need, including the relay. Since the battery is only about a foot away from where the horn mounts, it's an easy install.
rumboogy Posted November 30, 2009 #6 Posted November 30, 2009 Can you show some pictures of how it looks installed. Thanks, Wally

Skid Posted November 30, 2009 #9 Posted November 30, 2009 The relay for the Stebel horn is not that bad to wire up. I'd say if you need some help there is probably another member close that would be willing to help. I would but I may be a little far away. Or if you can wait till anothef VR get-together I'm sure there would be several volunteers.....
dynodon Posted November 30, 2009 #10 Posted November 30, 2009 An option to the air horns is a Hella Horn. Here is the version I have heard about from an E-bay source, but you can also get them through Griots garage or other sources: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Hella-Supertone-Electric-Horn-Set-Porsche-85115_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem3357c12a00QQitemZ220515609088QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories The nice thing about these is they should go in the stock locations and should not require a new relay. Will be louder than stock.
