CT versus MT

I'm relatively new to the darkside (on this site) but with all of the concerns and opinions about ct's on a bike, I am curious as to how many ct failures have occurred compared to mt failures.

I remember reading (here) about different tires falling apart, premature sidewall cracks etc.

 

Just for conversation sake, how many ct failures have occurred by darksiders and how many mt failures have occurred with those that stay with motorcycle tires ??

My m/t didn't fail, but when had the bags off a while back I noticed a crack in the sidewall that was about 4" long. The tire was replaced by the manufacturer. The tire was made in the 45th week of 2008 and mounted in July of 2009.

I had a pretty good size knot on my last ME880 (I thought premature), good luck with Avon's, so far...

If you have a split and knot, crackes or anything else the tire has failed, it my have not blown out but it has failed.

i have had my '99 rsv for over 4 years now. 1 year with the m/c tires that were on it, when i bought it at 21,000 miles. 2 years with me880's front & rear. now with my 2'nd c/t tire on the rear. i now have almost 76,000 miles on the bike. i can report no issuses with any of the tires i've had on the bike. but i will add the c/t has givening me the most

wear / milage for the low cost.
