OK guys yesterday at some point I lost both rear brake lights on my 04 silverado. I drove the last 300 miles with my daughter tailing me tight with her Subaru just to make it here.I believe I have a wiring problem. The brake fuse is fine, tail light bulbs are fine, and the third brake light that sets high above the rear glass works OK. This tells me the brake light switch is OK.The ground to both rear tail lights is probably OK as the rear turn signals, park lights etc are OK. I'm thinking maybe the master feed line comes into some connection plugs under the frame behind rear bumper. I'll check it out today when it warms up here. I got my volt meter with me just no wiring diagram. Those rear electrical plugs may be corroded.Nothing like plenty to do on vacation.

A lot of vehicles use 2 switches on the brake peddle for the brake lights. One for the regular lamps and one for the 'third' brake light. Just a thought...

On my 97 the brown wire broke at the clamp on the frame just before the plug at the rear. had a hard time finding it, the covering was intact.

Got brake lights fixed. Checked brake pedal switch and removed and reseated both bulbs in tail light. Everything OK now???? Not sure exactly what fixed it.
