Crash Posted November 21, 2009 #1 Posted November 21, 2009 I can't seem to find how to convert a LED light bar to become a RUN and BRAKE light. I thought thee was a simple wire connection that you connected to the running lights and brake lights. Anyone know what I'm talking about. BTW, this is for my SUV.

I thought thee was a simple wire connection that you connected to the running lights and brake lights. Anyone know what I'm talking about. BTW, this is for my SUV. Freebird had a write-up on this several years ago. I used it on my LED Pilot light bar. It involved wiring in a resistor and diode or two to get the run/brake combo. Im sure he will chime in here.
KeithR Posted November 21, 2009 #3 Posted November 21, 2009 I think this is what you are looking for. Keith
Crash Posted November 22, 2009 Author #4 Posted November 22, 2009 OK, if that's what I need :scared:I'm then looking for someone who knows what they are doing and wouldn't mind making it for me at my expense.
Crash Posted November 22, 2009 Author #5 Posted November 22, 2009 Can't any of the electrical gurus help me out here?
KeithR Posted November 22, 2009 #6 Posted November 22, 2009 Hey Crash How about here..... http://cgi.ebay.ca/LED-DUAL-ELEMENT-MAKE-LIGHTS-WORK-RUNNING-BRAKE-5-10_W0QQitemZ230397358719QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotorcycles_Parts_Accessories?hash=item35a4c0b27f Keith
Crash Posted November 23, 2009 Author #7 Posted November 23, 2009 Thanks, Keith. That's what I thought there was but couldn't find it. I even think I had one on my 2000 venture. It says 5-10 leds, I wonder if it support more than that.
Flyinfool Posted November 23, 2009 #8 Posted November 23, 2009 It is not hard to do. The nice thing is that if you put the diodes in backwards nothing bad will happen. Actually it is just that, nothing at all will happen. The resistor does not care which way it is installed. It is pretty easy, not dangerous to you, the bike or your budget, and less than $5 in parts. Go for it and we will help you through it.
