stvmaier Posted November 19, 2009 Share #1 Posted November 19, 2009 So I brought my RSV to the dealer for the broken windshield support (08 plenty of warranty left)... and they replace my inner and outer fairing under warranty... did a fine job. But I noticed that from lack of support and the windshield moving around, it had scratched the bottom edge of the windshield... and the chrome strip at the bottom of the windshield doesn't fit right. Sooo... I brought it back on a Saturday (45 minutes each way) and was told the warranty guy's not in today.. can you bring it back monday???? I politely explaind that would require me to take time off of work, and wasn't going to do that. so the tech left a note for the warranty guy. I just got off the phone w/him and he says " well the tech said there was a problem with the left side ( wich is crap, since the support was broken on both sides) and he has to wait to hear from YAMAHA to see if it will be covered, cause "that was a big claim.. over 1600 dollars"... is this how the program works??? I work at a Ford dealer, and WE determine if it'll be covered or not(to a point). Does this seem reasonable?? or should I start searching out another dealer to use.... Also , is there a phone number to get ahold of Yamaha if you're not satisfied with the service you recieve???
SilvrT Posted November 19, 2009 Share #2 Posted November 19, 2009 I have to wonder if the dealer screwed up somehow and is hesitant to admit it to Yamaha?? I'm starting to get such a feeling regarding my clutch basket that was supposed to have been replaced last July with an I basket. I took it out only to find it was a G basket so now I'm going back and forth with the dealer who is going back and forth with Yamaha (so they say) and the end result is me wondering if some un-truths are coming to the surface.... such as, did the dealer actually replace the basket at all or did they just say they did ... and why when I asked for an I basket they wind up putting in a G basket.... "am I being jerked around" is what I'm starting to wonder...
Tom Posted November 19, 2009 Share #3 Posted November 19, 2009 They do USUALLY call Yamaha but my case was always positive..And there is a Number to call Yamaha just in case...You have to be...forceful if you do not get a satisfactory answer IF you are in the right...(Had a shock go bad and they were BO so I raised cane and Yamaha paid there cost so I could get a Works Performance shock since they could not get one, Thats what I mean by Forceful)

Aussie Annie Posted November 20, 2009 Share #6 Posted November 20, 2009 Don't get your shorts in a wad. Yamaha will respond and they have always done the right thing by me. Is that the same as "Don't get your knickers in a knot?" OR Quicksteps' usual one of "Knoteth not thy cods!" Anyway just thought I'd ask
Sylvester Posted November 20, 2009 Share #7 Posted November 20, 2009 I thought the Australians rid themselves of the Brits. All the Ole' English quotes leads me to believe the opposite. By the way, how is your riding coming along? Getting enough miles in? Remember, anytime you ride up this way, you are welcome!

ediddy Posted November 20, 2009 Share #11 Posted November 20, 2009 Hey stvmaier, Your dealer is correct. I've had several issues and my dealer told me that anything less than $750.00 could be done by the dealer without yamaha approval but anything over $750.00 had to be approved by yamaha.
