bobcat Posted November 15, 2009 #3 Posted November 15, 2009 I'd give Rick a call at www.buckeyeperformance.com He's a fellow Venture rider that sells parts for our bikes and he'll answer any question....
skydoc_17 Posted November 15, 2009 #4 Posted November 15, 2009 Hey Bill, The slider needle is not interchangeable between the 1985 and 1986 VR because the taper of the needle is sharper on the 1985 VR than it is on the 1986 VR and the seat in the Carb. body of each year has the corresponding different taper in it. By the way, what makes you think that the needle is bad? Short of loosing one, this is not exactly a wear part. If you have other questions about the Carb. Set on your 85'VR please feel free to PM me. Good luck on your hunt, Earl
wkoepke Posted November 15, 2009 Author #5 Posted November 15, 2009 hey, earl.the carb's from my 86, but the float is shot so i thought while i'm in there i should replace the neddle and seat. but if this isn't a normally worn part, it would save me some time on this!! thanks alot for the info. bill:thumbsup2:
gscbertrand Posted November 15, 2009 #6 Posted November 15, 2009 If the float valve assembly is worn you should replace all 4. They come as a set needle and seat. Look carefully at the tip of the needle to see if there is a ring around it. If so replace if not take a chance but test the carbs off the bike. Good luck.
