Had a couple of friends try something like that out. One was dislexic and I think he's still using it. The other got frustrated and quit because he had a hard time 'training' it. This was probably 10+ years ago when voice recognition was just starting. I'm sure things have gotten better since then. Good luck.

I saw my exwifes neurologist using it at vet hospital in Johnson city. He spoke and it wrote everything he said. I was amazed, (but that's easy). He spoke very highly of it, said he had had it for a couple months, and the thing was easy to learn. Never talked about price tho.:confused24:

I am pretty sure Windows XP has voice recognition built in. I know I have trained it and used it on my computer. Didn't have to buy anything.

Didn't know that, so I went on the MS website and did a search for Voice Recognition and this is what I found. XP VOICE

Something else I didn't know is that if you press the CTRL button on the keyboard and hit the + or - key the screen image will increase or decrease in size. It also works with the scroll wheel..... Kinda cool...

Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks....

I tried one of those when I was newsletter editor for an organization I was in, but it didn't understand my East TN. accent.

No one can understand Tennessean, let alone a software program. :witch_brew: :rotf: :rotf: :rotf:

Lowell, it sounds like you already bought a copy, but if not, I have a couple of versions of Dragon sitting around that I'm not using - be happy to give you one. The most current I have is probably version 6.

If you watch the sales and rebates at the electronic and office supply stores every week, you can sometimes pick a new copy of for free after rebate.

I have actually tried that EXACT software for work. My left arm was out of commission for a while due to a shoulder injury (NOT motorcycle related) and my company had a copy so I tried it to write some reports.

It was OK but it took me some getting used to. give the software some time to learn your speech patterns and it works well.

I don't use it anymore. as my arm is OK now, and I can type and think faster than I can think, talk and read...... If I were to try it again, I would have to face away from the screen while I talked and read/make corrections when the entire paragraph is written.
