GaThumper Posted November 5, 2009 #1 Posted November 5, 2009 Looking at one of these for my FJ Cruiser and just wondering if it might be made to work and fit in the cassette hole on a 2nd gen? Does the RSV have an ODB II port? I saw where they use these on the Triumph Rocket, I guess it has the ODB port, or maybe an interface cable could be made? http://www.scangauge.com/ http://www.scangauge.com/assets/graphics/IMG_2009_withdims.jpg
Freebird Posted November 5, 2009 #2 Posted November 5, 2009 That would actually be pretty cool. I'm happy with the gauges I have added but otherwise would consider something like that. I would have to do some more measuring because I don't remember what size the opening is.
RandyR Posted November 5, 2009 #3 Posted November 5, 2009 I don't think the Royal Stars have an ODB port on the computerized ignition do they?
Riderduke Posted November 5, 2009 #4 Posted November 5, 2009 i just went out to to look and the opening measures 1.25" x 5.25" but the 1.5" gauges fit with just a little mods so I don't see why something couldn't be done with this one. What is an OBD port?

What is an OBD port? On Board Data port. Like cars have in them for system diagnostics.
V7Goose Posted November 5, 2009 #6 Posted November 5, 2009 OBD = On Board Diagnostics. Federal law requires all cars and light trucks manufactured after 1996 to have a system that meets OBD II specs so that anyone can access the diagnostic information from the standard OBD II data port instead of being forced to throw away good (or bad) money at the over priced dealer's repair department. Unfortunately, this law does not apply to motorcycles. And no, the RSV ain't got no OBD port of any type, as far as I know. The built-in diagnostics that it does have are read through flashes in the check engine light and the fuel gauge. Goose
Monty Posted November 5, 2009 #7 Posted November 5, 2009 OBD ports are mostly for fuel injected vehicles to check the computers' codes and input/output values from sensors.
KiteSquid Posted November 5, 2009 #9 Posted November 5, 2009 It wont work on a RSV, but it might fit in the hole where the cassette deck currently is....
