As you may know I recently changed the rear tire. Took both bags off and had to disconnect the CD player. Now I have no audio. All other electrics seem to be fine. I disconnected the CD player and still no audio. Checked the "audio" fuse (behind the lower fairing) and it is good.

Any thoughts? I thought I may have shorted something, but apparently since the fuse is good that is not the case. Just thought this may have happened to someone else.

Thanks.

Just because the fuse is still good does not mean that something did not get shorted out...

What else have you tried so far?

1) Check, clean, grease, reconnect connections under passenger seat?

2) Check, clean, grease, reconnect connections inside front fairing?

3) Check, clean, reconnect the white harness connection(s) with the amp inside the fairing?

4) Check input to speakers

etc.

Does the radio turn on (indicated by the handlebar mounted controls)? can you change the volume setting on the control pod and you don't get audio? Does the CB work? does the handlebar mounted control appear to function properly (Cycles through all audio modes, 'select' menu options', light up, etc)?

(just thinking out loud here of what kind of information could be helpful here)

Let us know and we can try to help you out :) :happy34:

of course, as a last resort, you could also take take advantage of the fantastic warranty if you don't want to tear into the fairing (It is really not that bad - but setting the precedent with the dealer right away illustrating there IS a problem is not a bad thing).

Look for the ground, make sure it is very good. Everytime I've had an issue with the radio-cd, it has been because of the ground, expecially up in the fairing where all the plugs are. Worked them over good and used dilectric grease and haven't had any issues for the past 6 months. fingers crossed.

Thanks guys, all good stuff.

The audio controller does not come on at all. That's why I thought it must be a fuse.

Sleeperhawk and I did the dielectric grease and reconnects a couple of months ago. And when I stopped the bike I had audio. After removing the CD player and changing the rear tire no audio.

Am I missing another fuse for the audio controller itself?

Again I live at a motel so until I can get over to Sleeperhawks or Peckers and take things apart I was hoping for something easier.

The only dealer I would be willing to take it to is Xtreme in Sumter, SC which is about 45 miles away and I would need a ride back, which I don't have right now.

(THIS IS WRONG (Good call ATLM): There is just the one fuse for the Audio system in the lower right cowling.)

If the audio control does not come on at all it is likely (in my opinion) a problem with either the control itself, the radio amp itself, the connection between the two, or a grounding issue (as Shamue suggested). Or that backup fuse (located behind the left 'battery cover' in that fuse box)

What you may be able to do is give the dealer (that you trust) a call and maybe you could work something out where you could discuss with a service guy what you have done and what the problem is and maybe they could order the parts and do the replacement while you wait. :confused24: It could be worth a shot.

Good luck!

When I bought my 09, th radio would turn off, then back on by itself. The dealer had left a connector loose during assembly, so it could be their problem. Either way, it should be a warranty issue.

There are 2 fuses for the audio system. My audio system and controller were not working at all when I bought my bike, but my "audio" fuse was fine. That's how I found out about the second fuse. The second fuse is behind the left hand (side) panel. It is labeled "backup". Mine was blown. I'll bet yours is, too.

The second "backup" fuse is also shown in the audio system schematics.

Man , I sure am glad you told us about the backup fuse. Ever since the other day when I first saw that on my bike I've been trying to find the reverse gear!!!:banana::banana:

Ted, you don't suppose you hit the kill switch again, do you?????:rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf:
