Hummingbird Posted October 31, 2009 #1 Posted October 31, 2009 I just talked top a tire dealer that sells Kumho's, however he doesn't stock the 165/80R15. He talked like it was an obsolete or discontinued tire. Is this correct ?? or is he mis-informed? So where are the Kumho's coming from ?

John- That'll be fine. Go ahead and order it and if it gets here in time OK, if not I still have one in the garage. After I posed the question I googled Kumho and found them all over the place.
footsie Posted October 31, 2009 #4 Posted October 31, 2009 I thought it was the stock tire on some of the volkswagons, and kia's. However 15 inch tires are becomeing a thing of the past. But right now they seem to be plentyful Gregg
flb_78 Posted October 31, 2009 #5 Posted October 31, 2009 He probably looked up a Kumho Solaris instead of the Kumho PowerStar.
Aussie Annie Posted April 15, 2010 #6 Posted April 15, 2010 Decided to go to the darkside with the Quike...and the Kumho is "as rare as hens teeth" over here. Tire shop found one in the warehouse, and only one in the state!! It's now mine.
screamstone Posted May 18, 2010 #7 Posted May 18, 2010 Kumho and pirelli rear on the way... $170 total shipped for both. I'll be over soon!
BigBoyinMS Posted May 18, 2010 #8 Posted May 18, 2010 165/80R15 is the stock tire size on the old '60's - '70's VW Bugs. And a few older European cars.
Hummingbird Posted May 18, 2010 Author #9 Posted May 18, 2010 I finally found one and it's installed. The VERY first thing I managed to do was to pick up a sliver of steel so small it took me over a week to find it. Then the only way I managed to see it was to pump the tire up to about 100 psi and the tread opened up enough to expose the culprit right against the tread. I put a plug in it last fall, it sat all winter in the garage and lost nearly one pound of pressure. I've only got a few hundred miles on it so far but I can't see what all the hub-bub is about. It's just another tire on the rear - btw - I have yet to get the bike over 70 mph - haven't had to
